Tiger Barbs as dithers!

So are they Tiger Barbs OR Tinfoil Barbs? BIG difference

I keep Tiger barbs with my Red Jewel cichlids with no problems. However, when I had them with my GT and JD they disappeared one by one over about a month or two. I still think they'll be food unless you keep you fish well fed. They're nice, very active fish just wish they were bigger. Tiger barbs around 3-4 inches would be perfect.

Nice looking fish too BTW :D

I have both.

I have tigers in my tank aswell, the list of fish that are in my tank is in my signature

Thanks

I have some big barbs in my 29 that I was starting to think what am I going to do with them because they are getting pretty big and can reach the other side of the tank in less than a second. I guess I can try putting them in my 90 and see how they work. Although if I upgrade they wont be in with the big cichlids long.

I tried tiger barbs with my oscars when the oscars were only about 4.5" and it didn't last long. As soon as I released the barbs, chaos ensued. Of course they were used to the occasional feeder every now and then, but they have always been aggressive and hungry.

blurock and balton, what size tiger barbs did you use? If you had 2.5"+ barbs, I doubt those oscars would catch em, they might not even try.

Oh yeah, I spent the money for adult sized tiger barbs but I don't have an Oscar, mine were kept with a Managuense. Now I use Filament Barbs.
