Tiger Oscar and Red Devil not getting along...need help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If there good now that's a good sign but usually what happens when you take out the aggressor another one steps into there place. You have enough space in a 125 that you should be ok with those two guys and a few more green terrors convicts would be a good pick up

"Venting" astronotus ocellatus isn't going to give you an accurate sex. The only way to determine O sex is to see if they lay or fertilize eggs.

As already mentioned the GD are perfectly shaped breakfast burritos for O. I've done it. O ate them daily when the O was only 7". Did it with a smaller JD. JD popped them off daily. Yes, they are very fast, but it doesn't save them when the lights are out, they're pacing the surface, and that O does his slow float up "I aint doin' nothin" behind them and then BOOM. :P Also, they can get up to around 5" definitely. I've seen them this size in person. HOWEVER they grow VERY slow. maybe an inch a year roughly. I used to have a great school of 14 of these guys. Very fun fish.

Tiger Barbs are easy burritos too. You said you don't want to do SD because they get big but in reality BIG dither is your ONLY option with BIG fish like Oscar.

BTW that's a very nice lookin' RD. Shame he's so aggressive and you can't provide him his own tank. He'd be great in his own 55 or 75g by himself with a nice OPEN scape, black background, and tan sand.

Thanks Jon. I never saw eggs in the tank some I am assuming its a male Oscar. But than again the Oscar is just about 1 year old now. Do they lay eggs at the young of an age. What is a SD again? and a GD? Thanks for the complement on the RD, I really am going to miss that fish. It's pretty unique.

Jons given you some pro advice i hope mine helped a little and didnt confuse you to much

sd is silver dollars
gd is giant danios

Thanks. I'm still deciding on what to do. Taking my time as I don't want to waste money.
