Nice Os Nova. Yeah, it is pretty rare to see an adult without some sort of HITH or LLE, or atleast some scaring from having it in the past.

Mine have never had it, I cant believe that mine are kept in better water conditions then most of the other guys on here, esp when I got them I believed a waterchange a month was fine:screwy: They've never had it though, I'm just lucky I guess.

my o definitely went from "zebra", a very black and white striping, to pretty much a red now with a green base and when she was growing up she definitely had a tiger pattern - almost the same exact pattern as my original oscar who was a green tiger with only like 10 red scales

maybe hith has something to do with minerals or lack their of present in the water. Or ph. Don't know, but I have two O's in the same tank and one has slight hith and the other has absolutely no signs of it. Only difference is the one that has it eats less and grows less the other one eats more and grows faster. No clue how they have been together for a year now one is 12" and the other is only 10" the 10" has one small hith mark the other has nothing.

The zebra looking stripes when young are called juvenile markings. Not only do oscars have it, barramundi's also have similar markings when young all goes away when they grow bigger.
