lmao 3 years, hahaha........ what a joke.

Sorry janson but a fish that grows as fast as a TSN should outgrow that size tank in a year. You're not making a good case for yourself.
Standard 135g is 72x18x24. The TSN should be about 12-15" long at one year on average. Not sure why you think it is okay to house a fish that is longer than tank width for a year and a half and think it hasn't outgrown that tank yet. Unless the fish had not grown that long in which case you stunted it.

My RTC and TSN have both grown 6"+- in 3 months in a 200g tank, then they being put in a 5000g pond, which in 3 years i hope they will be 50"+
if you had your TSN for 3 years it should be roughly that size. If not then you stunted its growth

I hope this guy is joking because it brings all the arrogant know it alls out of the woodwork and makes them look foolish. If you call this trolling then why not the eheim or sump pimps? It seems they just troll the forum looking for someone to say they're interested in another filter brand or type and then spring to action telling them why they are wasting their money unless they use an eheim or sump. Don't get me wrong I don't think everyone that is a fan of eheim or sump filters is that way. Some actually have legitimate good information about the two. Same goes for the people that make such a huge deal about stocking levels. I know fish should be happy, healthy, and comfortable. Keep in mind that it was a person just like anyone else that came up with the idea of what size of tank would house a particular sized fish comfortably, so their is no guarantee it's right. If someone has a suggestion for a tank size you don't agree with you can just say whatever size tank you think is right. You don't have to attack them for their suggestion. It just makes you look like a not nice person and makes them defensive, so their less likely to listen and learn something. It also makes you look like an arrogant know it all that just looks for people to talk/type down to that you don't agree with. How do you ever justify keeping a fish in any sized tank, since it'd be easy to argue any tank that limits their natural range is not nice or healthy for the fish. That goes for the people who have the really big tanks that like patting themselves on the back for how good they're being to their fish for giving them such a large tank. Not that everyone with a big aquarium is that way. There seems to be some here that look for any opportunity to seek praise for the size of tank they have or are getting for their fish that not everyone would or could do. For the most part this site is pretty good. It just seems people seem to hover on the setup and filtration area here to look and talk down to people. I actually loath even coming in here to ask a question or look for one, because I don't want to deal with the rude people. Another example of someone being a jerk is this. If someone comes and ask a question and says they know they're overstocked there is no point in carrying on about them being overstocked. I just wish people could be nicer in here. I suppose though if people do really get banned for silliness the problems with members attitudes starts at the very top and the whole site is flawed. Hopefully everyone can continue their passion in the hobby and sharing useful information in a nice manner. Love thy fellow mfk member.

P. S. I typed this on my phone, so I apologize for any typing errors.

no ones trying to talk/type down to other people...

true another "person/human being" set/or have said a certain fish needs this big of a tank & etc. but have you thought about why & how this standard was made? marine biologist/true hobbyist study fish & water life and come to those conclusions for a reason; because a certain fish like a TSN for example can not be happy in a 135g for 3 years when the avg. size of a TSN at 3 years old should big as the tank... and in most cases some sort of symptom arises due to the improper care & neglect for ex: growth stunt, suicide by jumping out due to tank or enclosure being too small, illness of some sort & etc. as for the rest i wont go into further details since i dont want post such a long reply & etc.

I think that the majority of people on MFK do have a passion for fishkeeping and the fish that they keep.
Now when someone come on here as the OP did and and asks what to put in the tank to keep a TSN happy, and it turns out the TSN is around a foot long and the tank is only 2-2.5 ft long and only a foot wide.I am not sure what sort of reaction you expected the OP to get,I struggle to see how he can not see that the tank is to small for the fish he has,yes he probably was trolling at least I hope so.Then we get someone else saying he kept a TSN in a 135 for 3 years,I have a mate who has a TSN in a 1000 gallon indoor pond and his TSN is about the same age, maybe slightly younger, and it is 2.5 ft long.
Have a look here and read some of the comments, and you will see that a TSN grows very quickly. So a 135 is not a suitable home for a TSN for 3 years, now I am sorry if for pointing that out some of the people come across as arogant, but it is probably out of concern that the fish is not in a suitable home and in the vain hope that the owner may see some sense.
The problems normally start because people cant be bothered to research the intended pets,it does not take long in this day and age to do a google search to see if the fish is compatible with your set up,These fish can live for 15 to 20 years and continue to grow throughout that time.
Here is some info from a guy that keeps them in an heated outdoor tank of 2400 gallons have a look at the growth rates.
Varies depending on environment and food. The typical pet shop offering is a 3 inch fish which can grow to 12 inches or more within a year. In 2 years these fish can reach 24" in length. Mine are about 10 years old and reached 30" in their 4th year. They appear to continue growing throughout their life span which may reach 20 years or more. They can attain a length in excess of 4 feet at maturity.
If I kept a dog in a kennle that was not big enough for it to turn around then I have no doubts that the RSPCA,a uk animal welfare charity, would be banging on my front door.
Why should it be any different for fish,I have just bought a 250 so that I can house my clown loaches in a tank that is suitable for there needs for life yes I am able to afford and have the space to do so some may not.But if that is the case then dont buy fish that require a bigger tank than you have.
Sorry if my post has offended the OP or anyone else, but that is my opinion.
