Dude dont take it like that. I enjoy reading what you posted its just such a block its hard for people who have poor eyesight ( like me ) to read when its so compressed.
I am in no way attacking your literary style or grammar.
Sorry if i made you fell that way.

I gotta agree with Wilkinson, I have a hard time reading a huge wall of text like that lol, it bothers my eyes.

I don't think Jason mention what type of shovel nose catfish he had. Hemisorubim platyrhynchos is a type of shovel nose catfish. For all we know, Jason could of had one of these types of catfish. Plus "porthole" shovel nose cats do take a while to grow to 2'. Ariopsis paucus is another small-ish shovel nose catfish that takes a while to grow. Lima's to are small shovel nose.

So, before all you guys and girls start jumping to conclusions about bad husbandry, Get your fact strait first then start flaming.

As for the OP.........Really?

he didn't need to mention it.... did you read the thread from the first page? the subject and or the species of cat fish we are talking about is a "TSN" & he clearly stated " I kept "MINE" in a 135g for 3 years"... meaning he has or is keeping a "TSN" in a 135g. None of us jumped to conclusions about bad husbandry and didn't get our facts wrong either. We simply read the post as posted & responded to that.

Ok. I wondered how long it would be before someone attacked my literary style or grammar. I guess I got my answer. I didn't think people on message boards cared so much about grammar. I did know it was coming though since at some point people tend to make fun of someone's use of the English language to make low blows.

he wasn't attacking your style of grammer or trying to make fun of you... he simply asked that next time try to make it easier for others to read because you typed

without stopping in a paragraph form like your writing a high school paper.... notice how he hasn't said anything about your grammer or your english? cause he didn't...

I have kept a shovel nose in a 125gal for 5 years. Your point being what? Yes OP was talking about a TSN, But "maybe" just maybe Jason was talking about a Lima (or some other shovel noses)and he didn't know it was a Lima or another shovel nose. Assumeing things is a bad way to go. You all assumed that Jason kept a TSN in a 135gal for three years and then moved it to a bigger tank. Maybe you should re-read the thread again and point to me where Jason mentioned anything about his "TSN". If Jason does come back and said he did keep a TSN in a 135gal, I'll be more then Happy to apologizes for giving a person the benefit of the doubt.

Just let the know it alls win. You know they'll never stop arguing or admit they might have been wrong or errored. We said are peace. I'm not sure how they ever learned anything about fish keeping, since they seem that they'll never admit they might not be 100 percent right.

Sorry. I had been replying on my phone and using the quick reply, so I actually didn't realize how long I rambled on until I entered it. Lol.

i understand where your coming from with this but if you read what you quoted me on then you would have understood where i was coming from
hence the whole its a TSN its not a TSN issue... also even if it isnt a TSN even smaller species of shovel nose cat fish get up to 18"+ full grown &
being kept in a 135g where most stock dimensions being around 18" wide the fish cant even turn, so regardless of what species of shovel nose cat fish
it is being kept in a 135g for "3 years" is ..... you get the point or so i hope you do... it's like this; what would you say to someone who is keeping or kept
a ray in a 135g for 3 years knowing that the fish will out grow that tank in a matter of time? but that person doesn't see anything wrong with that and gives
advice to other people saying it should be okay to house the fish in a 100g when the fish is around 12"+? does that seem right to you? its not about us admitting
we're wrong or whose right we are on this forum for the love of our fish keeping hobby & we dont like to see/hear fish being neglected and or improperly cared
for because that person was to lazy to research the species of fish he has.... its like a 10 year old going out to buy a arapima for his 60g tank not knowing or
doing any research about the fish before purchasing it, its ridiculous....

Well I didn't limit my comments to what was going on in this particular thread. I would say if someone said that pertaining to water conditioners that people that use prime are fish keepers that know what they are doing. As to suggest that anyone that doesn't use prime doesn't know what they are doing to me comes off a little arrogant. One of the members on here that I have learned a lot from doesn't use prime on his huge tank. I think it's around 600 gallons. I'm not sure how you figure telling someone never to give advice again is the best way to approach a disagreement. Like i said if someone feels you're attacking them they're gong to get defensive and be less likely to listen. If you really want to be a good member and want to share your knowledge to other members there is a far better way to approach that. All I was saying on the tank size that you make a big deal about it as if you know and that it could be possible that even you're wrong and certain fish might even need a bigger tank. I know that pertaining to science that in the past we as people have been told that some things are ok and right to in turn later on be told that they in fact aren't actually sufficient or good. Keeping that in mind I would just say that you should understand the information you're sharing could also be found to be inadequate. There will also always be people in the world that will always think you need a bigger tank for the particular fish you have. Take P.E.T.A. For example. I'm sure they think no size of tank would be sufficient to keep any fish and think we're inhumane for putting a fish in any size tank that limits their natural range. That's why I said it'd be easy to argue any sized tank would be too small. Just for the record I wouldn't keep a tsn or rtc in a 135 gallon tank. I know everyone is always going to justify the way they come off in some way such as they're passionate about fish keeping. I'm not the first person on here to say that there are people being rude, so keep that in mind.

So you're saying that a fish that should be 2-3 feet at 3 years is okay in a tank that is less than that wide? A display case essentially?

I don't know what prime has to do with this. Yes it's a great product, but all of the products do the same thing for the most part other than concentration levels.
