Tilapia Buttikoferi ?'s

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I’ve got a 6” male that just doesn’t have the “legendary” personality . What size do they get that attitude?

I will say this..... Buttikoferi have proved to be the hardest fish to catch. In a tank, pond, trough, or whatever. They like to jump over nets

I would agree, the one in the foreground looks to be male, by the profile. Of course one could be just more dominant than the other.
But its been a very long time (decades) since I've kept buttikoferi.
I edited your photo a little to help other with more current experience.

See, I started with (10) and have slowly been dwindling down to these (2) and he has never really gone after her or dominated her like he did the other ones. They haven't spawned yet... But I'm hoping it is coming soon. They regularly swim side by side. I think its time to guve them their own tank and see what happens.

I have a 7-8 inch butti...not sure of gender but I think it's a female. She's currently in a 75 gallon grow out and with a couple of black skirt tetras..and a bunch of guppies.
