To ALL cichlid community tank keepers!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yea they only spawned once ay christmas in my 220 and they got eatin. i moved them to a 75 and all they did was try to kill each other so i put them back in the 220.

No Oscar for me in my community tank (used to have one). Though I have a fish that acts like one and eats like one... A Pearsei.

Oscar is one of the few cichlids Ive never kept in 35 years of fish keeping. Not sure why either as they seem like really cool fish....my community would be a little too rough for one now though.

I have an O in my community. It's the boss too. Just impressive with the speed of their size gains. They get large quick and everytime someone sees my tank the first thing they say is how huge the oscar is.

I'm one of them, its hard to find a full grown oscar without HITH around here, I found two nice ones and then kept the better of the two. Ive tried many times with oscars over the past year, they all seemed to not want to get along with any other fish. I finally have one that doesnt bother anyone unless bothered himself. He doesnt go on a rampage, just lets the other fish know he isnt going to back down :)

I took his other one, and he is in a community setting with Severums.

I have two community tanks and have yet to keep an oscar. I think I never will. They are the most unfortunate looking cichlids i've ever seen.

In your opinion

My vote for that would go to the unfortunate looking parrot fish hybrid creatures. But to each his own. There are enough cichlids for us all to like!
