Just pick what YOU like and don't listen to that lady anymore:)

I know, its soo annoying to go there but its the only legit fish store around. They are soo opinionated that its wrong any other way but theirs.

Ibelieve that sand is natural for their safety defences and for their enrichment of foraging for food, it has nothing to do with bacteria.

Btw....if the sand is constantly turned over (by the rays) that would actually be better for beneficial bacteria...think fluidized bed BUT filtration is not the issue here.

Rays will live on bare bottom, just do not agree with it IMO.

You should of had fun with her and told her you had it in a 10 gallon and was going to upgrade to a 20 because you have a dwarf stingray that is suppose to grow to the size of it's tank. Then start asking if pirahna are safe tank mates because you saw it on youtube and thought it would be cool to have them together.

Also when they do sell rays, ive only seen teacups there and on the tank they have written **NEEDS SAND**. If u live near me and want to drive another 45 min theres another place that is pretty reputable but that guy argues the fact that they cannot be in sand. I actually got into an argument with this guy before i bought my ray. Im not making this stuff up either lol. I ended up saying to that guy. Where do these rays originate from?? he said Amazon River n such. Then i replied what do u think is at the bottom of that river, dirt and sand correct? He just blew it off and said they should be in gravel, and how the Boston aquarium even has them in gravel

I second this!

All of my tanks are bare bottom with the exception of my frontosa tank. Honestly, I prefer the look of a bare tank, because I want the fish to stand out and not blend into the tank. All of my idols that inspire me have beautiful bare show tanks... Also, much easier to clean up after lil messy monstahs.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL: haha.
the crappy part is, these stores around me dont know crap. thats y i always ask a ton of questions on here. the last time i saw they had a ray in i asked questions like. Could u guys get henelis or leos?? They had no idea wut i was talking about!! atleast the guy i was talking to at that point. The other store tho about 45 min away he does know the different species and a lot about fish, but soo hard headed on his thoughts.

I actually just picked up a florida gar from the guy that was 45 min away and he said to me, werent u here a ways back interested in the ray i said yea. He asked if i ever ended up getting one. I said yes i did. Then he asked y i did not purchase hes ray. I told him the truth. He was way to over priced. He was selling his motoro that was about 5" in disc for 275!!!!
