I drive a '97 Chevy 1500 Ext cab 4x4 on 33" BFG Mud Trn tires. I get 10mpg on a 25g tank, cost me $88 to fill up. I live 2.5 miles from work so thats 10 miles including going home for lunch, go 1g/day. tues-sat BUT i drive 25 to school every day go thats 50 miles every monday =5g/monday and sundays i drive about 40 miles round trip hitting fish shops=4g/sunday. Grand total about 14g/wk on an avg week.
I got a BIG truck, not because im a cool redneck guy whos trying to enhance my ego but because my father works in construction and you cane get across his jobs w/o 4x4, i haul firewood, fourwheelers, pulld trailers and boats, and used to get the occassional call to come drag a friend out of a mudhole not to mention how cool i look driving a big huge truck! Also, you know how much fun it is to crank your truck up and set of 10 car alarms in the Kroger parking lot!

All of those lithium batteries in a Prius are surely going to help the environment after they're toast. Electric cars are a joke right now too. Guess what it takes to produce most electricity/

theres a guy at "bob's bar and grill" with a Cadi on 44" tires. Ive also seen a Honda Del Son on 35"

Hybrids and smart cars are a joke. For one, they look like crap and look like theyll get smashed like a soda can by an SUV. And second, the premium price tag you pay for a hybrid is not even worth the money you will save in gas unless you drive hundreds of miles everyday.

I have no problem with saving the environment but when it starts to dig into my pockets, then I do have a problem. The only real solution to this is alternative fuel. And your crazy if you think thats gonna happen in your lifetime.

Just like people said 20 years ago that we'd have flying cars by Y2K. Yeah right :screwy:

i have the right to remain silent, but do not have the ability! why should anyone be forced into rice grinding plastic crapboxes! I own 2 vehicles that weigh over 12000 lbs, 1 over 8000, and 3 over 4000. why are we upset? those of us who make our living w/ trucks and or even cars/vans are taking huge hits in profits. you can ask everyone to carpool but let me know how that goes for ya. and for your comments about BIG trucks(there coming) if you have it in your house it came on a truck! whos gonna come get all the broken hybrids? not gonna put a wheel lift on a camry! whos gonna set the modouler home? a prius w/ a 60 ton crane? ever seen a septic body on a smartcar? look what i'm saying is 40 mpg cars aint gonna fix the problem. they may make it worse, as the average american says why does this cost so much when the mail stamps keep rising, truck again!, why does garbage service cost so much? still trucked! common problem? fuel prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alternative fuel is the solution. biofuel, ethanol, and so on. Use the same car just new fuel. I'll drive my truck til its dust, why, because its paid for! I cant afford a $32,000 smart car. thats trice what i made last year!
My baby was more expensive comming into this world than my truch is worth. Maybe we should ride our children to work!
