I know I'm young but I to own a car. it is not the best on gas but I do not complain because if the rising gas prices make people .

Se alot of people are ignorant about the subject of small cars. They think their "unsafe" because their small and have a false sence of security driving a huge truck. Now I don't have a problem with them when you want to by a 4X8 sheet of wood. But do you do that every day? Honestly, if we grinded the numbers, we would all find ourselves in the situation for buying more fuel efficient vehicules.

I know their are worse things for the environment but take a look around. Everybody is driving. I do believe we are the greatest impact on this topic. Althow their are boats and plains that are just rediculous polluters, I find we must take on this topic first then venture out.

it suffered a terible death tho:( it accidently ran in front of an f250 w/ a plow rack:( sooo wasnt my fault:naughty:

I was just funnin with ya ;)

I drive a CNG Ford bronco.. Runs cleaner and is less cost than our 2000 civic ;)

short story? we should own 4 cars instead of 2 incase we need to transport something? sounds counter productive. also from what i here gas venting from fuel tanks is just as damaging, so if we all had 4 cars that would be 2x the raw fuel evaporating. hmmmmm

I think that one of the major issues is that the EPA (environmental protection agency) which we have here in America: they don't have elsewhere. We haven't built a refinery since 1979 and the EPA has made the regulations so tight since then that even the rich oil companies can't afford to build a new one here.

If you've noticed the biggest thing hurting us now isn't a fuel shortage, it's a "potential" fuel shortage that is having effects on the futures market. Every time someone sneezes in one of the refineries that we do have the price shoots up $10 a barrel. We're afraid that the bottle neck that we have in the gas making process is going to get tighter.

There is oil out there, they just struck it off the coast of Brazil. Enough to supply the world for many more years at the current pace. The problem is that we can't refine it fast enough. And there is no end in sight for that.

I agree with rallysman about Hybrid cars being a joke...once the batteries in a Hybrid car crap out they are gunna become a problem. The batteries are also very expensive, every time the batteries die the owner of the car is gunna have a lot of money to pay to replace them.
I think using alternate fuel sources such as bio-diesel and pure vegetable oil is a much better idea than the Electric and Hybrid cars
