man life must be tough in ohio ....... no i don't get criticism often for my tanks, however when people find out about how much crystal red shrimp are worth, and after seeing them, they don't raise their eyebrows as much

some people have called me weird and some of my other friends ive actually got them started on the hobby. i gave my buddy paden a 15 gal cube tank last year now he has that & a 55

Sometimes my friends will bug me about my O's telling me fish are lame in a joking kind of way. Then I tell them to put just the tips of there fingers in the tank. One of my friends did, the fish actually drew some blood.

My friends and family don't really criticize me for it. They think it's "unique" rather than weird, and when they look at my tanks (my bichir tank in particular), I get a lot of "whoooaaa, cool!" and "WHAT THE **** ARE THOSE THINGS?!" ... lol

I always had a tank when i lived in a dorm room...it usually got good feedback as everyone else had betta bowls. Now i have a 75, 55, 40 and a snake in my apartment. At first it gets the "wow its a zoo in here" reaction but usually people come around to liking everything.

It especially helps to have a glassbanger cichlid...it will keep all the drunks occupied.

Lol yeah. Life isnt tough in Ohio, just full of ignorant pricks. It's a bunch of clones out here, nobody is any different from anyone else. I get yelled at when I walk down the street because I have tattoo's and long hair and listen to various types of metal. I just laugh at it now, but at first it was like damn, you guys suck.

The only person thats ever given some type of criticism is my mom. Everytime she comes over to see me, she asks me how much I spent on my tank. Sometimes just because I want to get her mad I over shoot the proce way up. She almost had a cow when I told her how much my driftwood costs. But thats about it. All my brothers were into fish even my brother in laws from my side and brother's family's side, so just about every brother in law i have loves fish. My dad also loves to see our fish tanks and how se set them up, but he doesn't have one.....yet....until this father's day.

Thats how my parents are. My mom likes them, but doesn't like the cost. My dad loves them, but doesn't know anything about care. They have killed 7 oscars on me....:irked:

i used to get crticized casue of my fish by my friends but then they saw my arowana's datnoids and pbass frrding and they were like :WHOA:ohhh $hiizzzz!!! now they hit me up when ever its feeding time. some of them still think im crazy but i pay no mind to them. infact some wana go to the socal meet.

When it comes to your parents, tell them that it teaches you to be a more responsible person. It inculcates on you a sense of discipline and routine that when broken, will have dire consequences (fish death) and money flushed down the poopoo seat.

When someone tells me that I am crazy for spending that much for fish, I tell them its an investment that I enjoy a lot. If you are my girlfriend, you should be happy that I am happy and spending my free time on fish and not going for other women.
