I get that from some people but most of them after they see my fish go and get a tank of their own! LOL

My friends and family don't really criticize me for it. They think it's "unique" rather than weird, and when they look at my tanks (my bichir tank in particular), I get a lot of "whoooaaa, cool!" and "WHAT THE **** ARE THOSE THINGS?!" ... lol

Same here only that here that applys to my turts and lizards and not fish. Many people that I speak to in the vet ask me why I keep them, how long Ive been into it,etc. My vet likes when I come in there actualy because as soon as he sees me he knows, "the fun will beggin", Ive got the only decent looking and healty iguanas he gets to see, the rest of its customers only have cats and dogs, snores ville My friends are very ampreensive when I hold big herps and think Ive got some guts (not really natural thing for me to do, they are big babys) The only time guys maked fun of me was during my early school years because I spended my time chasing grasshopers for my herps to eat and I gotted the nickname "grasshoper"Today I only get kind of disrespected because of really rude and uneducaded people that think all reptiles are dangerous, poisonous and horrible disgusting creatures but then I tell them Im a biologist and they have to shut their mouths

Just tell people that there are pigeon collectors who pay thousands of dollars for a pigeon, then that person will have to ponder why someone wouldn't just grab one from the city.

Does anyone ever give you hell for liking fish? I get it almost daily, people are like "fish are ***, you are boring because you have fish, they're stupid." ....the list goes on lol. Does anyone else get that? I want to hear!

No b/c the stuff I have kept are mostly things that people around here have never seen before and they become interested in my collection at least when I'm talking about it.

Hell my parents used to own a fish store in the late 80s early 90s and my moms not heard or seen of some of the things I have had.

But at the same time she remebers when you could get cool stuff we pine after now back when it was cheap she says they used to get blue eyed plecos all the time. But I can't confirm that we don't have any pics.

i have it worse than all of you...i only got a 55 a30 a 20 and soon will have a ten gallon reef. but i also Snorkel, spearfish, fly fish, collect fish , getting scube certifide and sell fish im 14 and get alotta crap. they say " you spend THAT much on a glass box of water? why dont you get an X-BOX with that money?'' i say'ive only got one arm and am not intrested in going around in circles on HALO. fish rule

i get a lot of crap from my friends, who think i spend too much time or money. but i guess its all what you like. i dont spend nearly as much money on beer and entertainment as what they do, so i guess it evens out.
but they would prefer their lifestyle, and i prefer my fish . i enjoy spending a couple hours of my weekend checking out local LFS, or checking out other peoples tanks. they spend their weekends drinking


but i also get a few visitors from time to time who think its awesome
