ehh
it will get you alot of moneys
if you succesfully breed it they will ghet you even more moneys.
but how much moneys will you put into the breeding?
better sells its

Only you can know how you feel about giving up your awesome arow, but just think of other times you gave up something special, if you forgot about it and went on with your life quickly then i would say you will probably be fine selling him.. but if it bothers you emotionally and that is the reason for double questioning yourself i think your far better off keeping him. :grinno:

I didn't vote because this is a hard question... In order to get baby snows you need another arow of a different gender that carries at least 1 of the leucistic (or platinum) genes. So if you find another leucistic arow of the opposite gene all the baby's should come out leucistic. If you have a a mate that carries 1 you gene for leucisticism and 1 normal you will have 25% plats and 75% normal in appearance het for leucisticism(the hets will carry one of both normal and leucistic genes). if you get a mate that doesn't carry the gene 100% of the babies will be hets and all look normal. You then will have to grow them to sexual maturity and pair them off... if they breed with each other 25% should be platinum and 75 should be hets...
So in conclusion you will have to wait until a second generation of hets in order to get 25% of a brood to be plats... unless of course you find a het for leucisticism wich would be really hard (especially to prove with out breeding) or another matable plat of the opposite gender... JUST ABOUT IMPOSSIBLE... So the choice is yours... But i'd say if you start breeding now you wont have baby plats for another 2 or more years

Personally i'd sell it asap. Couldnt be a better time to sell it what with the whole platinum at aquarama press, that got offered something like 200,000 pounds, so god knows what that would be in dollars. I'd be suprised if you got that much, but i imagine you'd get a lot.

Also with breeding, do you know anything about the genetics of the fish. You might need to breed it once, and then you'd get hets for plat and then breed them back to the parent, basically- you need a farm.

Are you talking about a real snow aro like this snow aro.jpg or a silver Aro?

Well would you spend that kind of money to buy one? By keeping it and not selling that is what you are doing. What kind of precautions have you taken to ensure the survival of this fish? Things happen and fish end up dead.

I explained exactly how the genetics worked just before you're post...

You gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. But you gotta make sure the fish is in a good home not someone who may let it get killed.
