i know its hard to breed and i was thinking of how unlikely a normal silver would pair up with a white one.

i also thought about breeding the brothers and sisters together to get the 25%.

i just dont want to have regrets. but im pretty sure ill have regrets anyways. still have time. its on craigslist :)

i thought you said you had a buyer?

either way this is a tough decision. it comes down to your personal connection to the fish. is it a fish or a pet to you? if it is only a fish then sell it. if it is a pet then i think you should have a better reason than making some money to sell it.

how about someone put a picture of it up side by side with the snow from aquarama just to see if its as white as that one

their are no pictures of it in this thread

How about you go to neoryans profile and look through the numerous threads regarding this fish, there are even some vids for you.

i still like my fish with some color but each to their own and if someone is willing to pay the money you want for it good luck to you take it and run

no point in trying to be greedy and holding out for $68k it may never happen unless you advertise it on the jap market

now is the time to sell it when aquarama is still fresh in peoples mind in 6 months time it maybe worth half of what you have been offered

we have no idear what you have been offered but i bet its much less than $68k

closer to $10k if you ask me

Emotions, Money, Breeding Program, whatever....... since you put it up for sale and have a buyer......it's sold. Unless you want to be an asshat.... then take your ball and go home.

You posted the thing all over the place for sale. Even other members posted the sale for you at MFK. It makes no sense to back out now.
stndfsh:D

p.s. You have about as good a chance to breed that fish as you do finding another one for $25 like you did this time.

Cash it in, Cash it in. At aquarama, the biggest and best fish show in the world, one sold for $250,000.:naughty:
On the other hand if you think you can breed them, keep it.:)

I would agree with this. It is lighter color but I don't think as white as the one at aquarama. I think if you find someone to give you 5k for it you're lucky. I would take the money and run. It could pay for a bigger setup or invest it to make you more money.

I would not try and breed such a fish you feel is worth alot of $$. I don't think the babys would turn out snow because this fish is probably just light colored rather than line bred to lighter arows.

i wounder if the guy who sold his for $68k had to set up a poll asking if he should sell it :D

do NOT do that, that is inbreeding.

it often leads to a reduction in genetic diversity, and the increased gene expression of negative recessive traits.

dont get a foot hold in there.

Sorry man that's exactly what he would have to do... It's called line breeding... I would actually try to breed one of the babies with the parent... this will give you like 75% plat and 25% hets.... The leucistic as well as pretty much all other color "morphs" are in fact a "deformed recessive gene" and you are trying to key on this one trait.... eventually he would have to try and trade some of his offspring with someone else to keep his bloodline healthy... but for the first few generations there is no other way.... This is pretty much how 80-90% of color morphs in fish and reptiles are produced in pet trade!
