Personally i'd sell it asap. Couldnt be a better time to sell it what with the whole platinum at aquarama press, that got offered something like 200,000 pounds, so god knows what that would be in dollars. I'd be suprised if you got that much, but i imagine you'd get a lot.

Also with breeding, do you know anything about the genetics of the fish. You might need to breed it once, and then you'd get hets for plat and then breed them back to the parent, basically- you need a farm.

Find the person/s who made that offer and SELL SELL SELL!!!!!!!

I explained exactly how the genetics worked just before you're post...

lol, you were just a quicker poster than me, i've been feeding fish imbetween posts.

Didnt vote, major factor is your reasoning, if you plan on breeding more snow aros I would sell it due to the major difficulties in aro breeding. If its an emotional thing then I say keep it.

Regret is one of the worst feelings in th world.

I didn't vote because this is a hard question... In order to get baby snows you need another arow of a different gender that carries at least 1 of the leucistic (or platinum) genes. So if you find another leucistic arow of the opposite gene all the baby's should come out leucistic. If you have a a mate that carries 1 you gene for leucisticism and 1 normal you will have 25% plats and 75% normal in appearance het for leucisticism(the hets will carry one of both normal and leucistic genes). if you get a mate that doesn't carry the gene 100% of the babies will be hets and all look normal. You then will have to grow them to sexual maturity and pair them off... if they breed with each other 25% should be platinum and 75 should be hets...
So in conclusion you will have to wait until a second generation of hets in order to get 25% of a brood to be plats... unless of course you find a het for leucisticism wich would be really hard (especially to prove with out breeding) or another matable plat of the opposite gender... JUST ABOUT IMPOSSIBLE... So the choice is yours... But i'd say if you start breeding now you wont have baby plats for another 2 or more years

nailed it :)

sell it and live life better =] if u cant breed it, what u gonna do if u keep it? stare at it all day? lol

i know its hard to breed and i was thinking of how unlikely a normal silver would pair up with a white one.

i also thought about breeding the brothers and sisters together to get the 25%.

i just dont want to have regrets. but im pretty sure ill have regrets anyways. still have time. its on craigslist :)

id keep it

if i raise it from a youngster, you cant put a price tag on it.

you have something special here and then some......so why give it up for something you will waste (i.e-money).

you will have a hard time selling it and even if you found a buyer they would talk you down maybe acouple grand and then some.

do NOT do that, that is inbreeding.

it often leads to a reduction in genetic diversity, and the increased gene expression of negative recessive traits.

dont get a foot hold in there.

how about someone put a picture of it up side by side with the snow from aquarama just to see if its as white as that one

their are no pictures of it in this thread
