I think we ALL agree that a 30" wide tank would be BEST for a Jardini.

I think Johnptc's 10k would be best ;):grinno:

ok then lol. didnt expect so many replies...... i will look into getting a 30" wide tank then. thanks.

As with any monster fish, the larger the better. 8x2 does have a large impact compared to a 6x2, as you have gained several gallons, and as we all know dilution helps prevent toxic poisons from getting to dangerous levels. Personally for a jar, I'd go no less than 36" wide.

i dont get how this is such a hard cconcept.... or how to be more clear

if you have a 24" fish in a 24" wide tank it does not matter if your tank is still to small for the fish regardless of lenght.... a 30" wide tank would be the min needed for the fish to turn somewhat comfortable.... seriously what is so hard about what i wrote....

Nic.. You know your wording was rather difficult and you said

its the same foot print though doesnt matter 2' fish turning around in 2' tank...

Which confused me because 6x2 and 8x2 aren't really the same "footprint".. Let's not dwell on it though, we've figured it out and can move on..

that setup turns out to be my original tank of 360 gallons. not sure if a jar is worth the space, but i really dont know what else i would do in that tank. they can pretty much be only kept singly?
