to set the record straight...

it all depends how flexible the fish is

a 24inch silver could turn much essayer than a 24inch jar or Asian aro as their scales are much larger making them less flex compared to a silver or black aro

6x2x2 is the bare min for a jar or asian aro but 30 wide would be better IMO

im just sayin that idk if im gonna do that tank or not. it all depends on how much space i have left after my big tank. just not sure if i need as many tank as i originally wanted, might be cuttin the number down a little bit.

i think that the "BEST" thing for the Jar would be to just leave them in the wild...

but, if you must keep them in captivity...IMO: the bare minimum tank would be a 6'x2'x2' 180g ...anything bigger than that would obviously be better..

i've seen silver's and Jar's who have been kept in 125g, 90g, 75g, and 55g tanks...lets just say those silver's and Jar's don't look so good..(IE: gill curl, head wounds from jumping, diseases, etc.)

if you really think this, then you must have a ballpark time with people keeping pima's. ive decided to keep the jardini scheme, and have one in 360g. an 8x3x2 tank. gives one of them plenty of space to grow. and silvers get much large than a jardini would, im going to keep 3 silvers in my very large tank. but that tank is also going to be 900 gallons......

i actually don't have a problem with anyone keeping any monster fish in captivity...i'm one of those ]V[onsterfishkeeper's myself :naughty:...just as long as the fish are well taken care of of course and that they can live comfortably.. ;)

...i just think that no tank foot print could ever come close to the fish's natural habitat (ie:amozon, lakes, oceans, etc.) ...so if someone would actually want the "best" for the fish they would just leave them in there natural environment....

the only thing i usually have a "ballpark" time with is those zoo/carnival animals that get tortured their whole life getting "trained" to do tricks for people to be entertained..:irked:

oh and to the Pima owners...if it weren't for you guys keeping those monsters in captivity and posting pics here on mfk...i probably wouldn't even know what one of these awesome fish looks like!..lol

i got wht your saying. i thought about it, and at first i wasnt going to have a jardini, but i think i am now, im just cutting down on the number of tank i have since one of them will be huge. id put retics with the jardini if they werent any problems but with jars there often is. im going to give my silvers plenty of swimming room, along with the motoro's

Its a nice combo...but not assured it will work. Silver's an be agressive, and rays, deadly defensive.

Keep a watch out.

yeah thats not the first time ive heard that miguel. but a thread on here says it would work..... but i wont do it if it cant be trusted. tankmate ideas?
