Told my FX5 is no good

Why are you guys now debating the pros and cons of the FX5? Whether or not it has drawbacks (as does every filter choice) the salesperson was talking out his rear end. The claims he made that the FX5 is akin to having no filter at all are so absurd it's not even worth debating.
Yeah I was in a state of dissaray after hearing such a negative rant on the FX5, this guy went on about it for about twenty minutes.
He does sell other fluval filters, said the others still work well as they dont run on the same princables as the FX5. He used an old fluval book to show me how they should be and why the FX5 fails this princable. He also said he'd seen the new filter set to replace the FX5, and that will right these so called wrongs.
I'm not about to rip my FX5 off my tank as this was the first negative thing I'd heard about it, versus 1000s of positives.

I have 2 FX5s. I love them, but there are a couple things that piss me off a bit. I think the flow dramatically goes down if you don't keep the maint.. Meaning they clog too fast. At this point I think they do an incredible job for bio filtration. I use them mainly for mechanical filtration and imo just get the added benifit of a good bio. I have bio media (ceramic) in 2 and always keep some fresh chemipure elite in the third. When I perform the maint., I am very happy with what I find. I don't think the flow rate is as advertised, but some on here have said they tested it to be true to what they claim. All in all for the money I don't think you can beat it.
To wrap it up, it seems to me the guy doesn't sell them, or he doesn't have a good margine on them..

The review is junk. Done by someone who likes Eheims and not Fluvals. Bad testing in every way.

The Fx5 is the MOST EFFICIENT CANISTER FILTER OUT THERE! IT moves 600 GPH and ONLY consumes 53watts! The 2262 consumes MORE than that for roughly the same flow and all other canisters have a MUCH lower flow rate which means the consume less power.
What design flaw is there in the hoses? Tell me cause I see none.
Where is the design flaw in the motor? Its a design flaw to use the most efficient impeller design?
Where is the design flaw in the flow rate? The manual says it flows 607 GPH and its been tested at 600 GPH!!! MANY TIMES!
NEVER go by the pump flow rate. Its a marketing ploy and I say this all the time and no one seems to agree.
I suggest you fill your mind with facts before shutting down a canister filter you know nothing about.
There are also tons of members that are using the fx5 for over 2 years without issues. What turned you off?
Me too which is why I wanted his number but the mods edited my post so it was not so "personal". To me its not personal to any members and only the LFS so lets get the LFS number since its PUBLIC INFORMATION, and so is this post MODS! And talk to this guy.
2 FX5's on my 240g and all is good. I will say that I love my FX5's for the massive about of bio capacity they hold and the amount of flow it produces. best bang for your buck.
but I also have an Eheim 2128 ThermoFilter running my 90g. Eheim are way over priced but you gotta love how quiet they run.
anyways, in this hobby where monster tanks are kept and cannister filters are used, everyone wants big capacity, big flow rate and reasonable price, FX5 fits all 3 bills.
