Toni and Nemo my albino Oscar's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
dude this fish is beautiful.

Thanks so much for the compliment. She has definitely changed a lot and been thru a rough start. It looks tho now she has this 125 to herself for life. So should have a nice happy life from here on out.

Now I am not saying I won't try a time or two over the rest of her life span to find her a mate. But at her size it's growning one out, or hopefully finding a nice one at the LFS. I almost picked up this Albino Red that was at the Wet Spot, felt sorry for the poor thing, was blind in both eyes. Just didn't have room for another 10in Oscar.

Yea man. I know what you mean my lfs had a regular tiger and i nearly bought if it wasn't for the fact the my jack dempseys are horrible to other fish. oh well when i got the room I might get an Oscar. but congrats Toni is a beautiful girl she has some nice colour.

Been watching the new SDs. Starting to see the differences in the sexes. It looks like one (I think the females) are a bit bigger, have duller markings. The males I think are a bit smaller, darker markings, also have a spot of red in the dorsal fin. I think they are the males due to three very simular looking one always brawling to see who is Boss. Where as the others just swim in the pack.
The one Toni nipped is healing up good. The marks on her body are gone and her dorsal looks to be reforming. She swims along fine with the pack.20180612_122028.jpg

So the plant of DOOM ain't so fearsome anymore. Toni has been ripping off about 3 to 5 leaves a day.View attachment 1319828

I'm suprised it lasted as long as it did, I've been impressed you have kept the tank looking so nice with such a large Oscar in it. Normally all I see are bare tanks with all the gravel piled up in one corner!

I think the water changes every other day help with the gravel deal. Cause she's such a pigish eater, the SDs do a good job of cleaning it up. But a good amount of gill leavins does get down in there, so I gravel vac the substrate each water change. This helps to keep it nice and flat.

She does have this thing when she is MAD!! at me. She gets a mouthful of rocks and spits them out against the side or front panels of the tank making this weird clicking noise when the rocks hit the panels. She will do this for like a half hour it so.

I managed to get a couple shots of the SD differences.

See the little spit of red in the one with darker markings. There are 3 of each, the darker markings with red, and 3 of the lighter one with no red.

Now the stripped ones is a different story. I can't see any real difference in them yet. Some have longer dorsal fins, that's all I can see so far. Tho I have noticed the BOSS of that pack wears two dots of black on his side. And when ever another tries to two dot it up a fight ensues. They slap box each other with thier bodies, and lots of chasing. 20180614_101746.jpg
