Toni and Nemo my albino Oscar's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think Spence Spence might be onto something. She might just need something to do. Maybe even something to hunt. Does she like snails? Or maybe shrimp. Those would both be easy to raise in a small tank.

My HRPs are suppose to fill this live food role. They have swimmers now so it seems they are getting better at the parenting deal. The Acaras will be going in on the live food factory. Next buck per gallon sale I am going to grab a pair of 20gal tanks for fry tanks and a double 20 stand for them.

Been waiting for one of these sales, then I can just grab eggs after they lay them. Instead of hoping they make it thru.

Edit:I just looked at Petco's site, yup you guessed it, sale is on now 1per gal on select open top Aqueon glass tanks in store......

During today's water change I decided to move Toni's furniture around. She did not like this at all, was trying to bite the stuff as I was moving it. I could just hear her saying "Put that back" "That's mine! What are you doing!" "Put it back or I will bite you"
She got pretty close to my arm a couple times!1534525170487-640659619.jpg
Other news, she finally ate something. Yesterday at breakfast she ate 6 Carnisticks and 3 Krill.

It's not that she dont like what I am offering. She was sulking from the move and was refusing to eat. I would toss in something she would take it in her mouth, then spit it right back out and swim away. She didn't totally starve this last week, she ate ten crickets and some Krill. Just no pellets till now.

Long story short, I have an issue with hobbies over the years. When I get bored I tend to sell off current hobby stuffs, and use the funds to jump into a new one. Now that I am older, I can see it starting. So to nip this in the bud, I am going to do a massive change up of the stock in my tanks. Hopefully this rekindals the passion of this hobby.

So first off most of the fish in the 55gal will move to the 46bow. HRPs, Neon tetras, Plattys, Kuhli loaches, the male Betta. Albino pleco and snails will stay.

Then I will move the Acaras and friends into the 55gal, freeing up the new 125gal.

Lastly Toni will be taking a flight to Go_redfish Go_redfish 's place. Joining Lazarus in summertime pond excursions.

So now both 125s are open. I am going to order fish from Rapps. Six of one species in the new tank, six of another in Toni's current tank. Doing the whole let them grow up, pair up, rehome extras, let them breed, raise the fry and sell them off deal. Also making a thread for each species to post up progress.

If it all works out right this should happen in about 2weeksish time.

Catness is up for rehoming(afraid she might try to eat the new 2in fish). She is about 7in now or so. The Wet Spot said they can/will ship her. I am not charging for her, she is free with a stipulation. If shipping will need to wait till same day that Toni goes as well. I don't drive so getting a ride to The Wet Spot is a pain. I have arranged one for Wednesday the 5th. You see I need to keep them till the new fish get here to keep my BB alive. It's two hours by bus/light rail/bus to get there from my house. Not comfortable taking them there in buckets that way.

Do you know what you want to keep? The fish remaining on my to get list are a Parachromis (Motaguensis and/or Managuensis), Trimac, Barred Midas, and last but not least at least one type of Frontosa. Always been into the thought of raising hybrids too, but never really jumped into that, but the idea of raising some rare cross breed sounds fun to do.

Yes I just hope they don't sell out in the next two weeks. Gonna do fish only tanks, no bottom feeders, dithers (unless needed) so nothing can eat eggs/fry (tho I am hopeful that I can keep the Roseline's in one or the other tank.

Toni's tank will be a. Sagittae
New tank will be h. Carpintis

Both are around 2in size. I will get 6 of each. Grow them out, let them pair up, keep my favorite pair. Rehome rest to MFKers hopefully.

A. Sagittae are open water if the internet is right so the tank will be mostly empty save some breeding pots when older.

New tank is set up already for the h. Carpintis
Both take about a year to pair up and start breeding. Gives me time to rehome both small tanks and turn into Grow out tanks (55gal and 46bow)

Any words of advice on either of these would be appreciated!
