Toni and Nemo my albino Oscar's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So apparently Toni don't like FX4 filtration units. First thing she tried to kill the intake tube.....biting it, latching onto it and trying to swim away with it, didn't pan out so well for her.

She is giving me this evil side eye glare. The FX changed the currents some in the tank, as she is trying to smash her fat self thru them....

So we are coming up on the one year of having Toni. Mid part of May is when I got her. Tho she was probley born around Jan/Feb time frame. But, we count thier Birthday as the day we bring them home right. Eye balling her now I would say she is 8in now, not counting the tail of course, thats to the end of the tail muscle just about even with her false eye, to the tip of her closed mouth.

Now always wanting to learn more and see what others use. In my AC110s I get those ammonia remover bags. Should I still use them, or is that one of the ways they get use to spend extra monies. If I don't have to use them I can get another bag of the bio rings and have 3 bags in both AC110s.

So do you think that the 2 AC110s and FX4 will be enough. The stock should stay as it is now. Toni, Juan the 5 silver dollar's and the Ornatus.

Ok so it's late one night, and I am checking out the Wet Spots current stock list. Hmm they have wild caught Ecuadorian Festae....wild caught Ecuadorian Green Terrors....wild Pink Tail
Chalceus, wild Flagtail Prochilodus, all of them in the 3 to 5 inch range.

So I start to hatch a evil plan. I will flood her (talking bout Toni) with a bunch of fish and see who works out.

So I bought the RT, now in with Juan the GT and the Pink Tail, roommate was going to buy the Flagtail. I had to buy online (using PayPal credit) but can pick up in store since I am local. Still sigh unseen like ordering fish online normally. I had asked for female GT,RT they said they would try to get females no guarantee or anything.

So I go pick them up. Roommate backs out of buying the Flagtail, one fish short now on the flood Toni with fish deal...

The RT turns out bite size to Toni, so it goes right into the 55gal. The Pink Tail was 3.5in, but looked to much like a Toni snack so 55gal it went as well. No I don't still have it, it jumped out of the tank some how over night. Down two more fish for the flood.......

So I give it a go. The GT a good 4in and Juan and the Ornatus go into the 125 with Toni and we will see what we see right...

Well things are a lot better than I thought it would go. Toni didn't like Juan at all, she bite him one time and was chasing for another go at him but I took him out and back in the 55gal he went.

The GT who shall be known as Hotlipz from this point on did take one small bite from Toni from what I gather it was a this is my house, but I like you, so you can stay. Toni hasn't been aggressive to Hotlipz since.

The Ornatus who shall be known as Catness Everwisker is doing great as well. Has this spot in the back corner she swims against the current in most of the time. Does tho during feeding time come out and get leavings that make it to the bottom. For food it's eating Hikari sinking carnivore pellets, now what ever else it finds.

So far it is going great, what's left is getting along great, no aggression between Toni and Hotlipz or Catness. The tank is in my sight most of the day and been watching it like a starving hawk just in case things turn bad, knock on wood.
Hotlipz is getting settled in and dropping her black stress bar and starting to raise up her dorsal fin. When I got her, the seam on her tail was pretty gain and a more yellowish color. Now a month later it's turned a beautifull metallic orange.

So I bet you are waiting for the pics. Here we go, some from when I first got them in tank and some more recent.

And no, no hospital tanks. I took a risk on a place I trust that have only ever sold me great fish before. I don't suggest not QTing new fish, I rolled the dice and it worked out for me.
