Toni and Nemo my albino Oscar's

Well we didn't hit 10 days of 90+ heat, the 10th, yesterday we only got to 88..

But I do have a situation growing here. This is the third morning that Toni has not eaten. Two full days now she has not eaten. Even tossed in some bloodworns and she didn't eat any. Think it has to do with the heat? Her tank is normally 75deg, since this heat wave its up to 86 now.

There is nothing new with her tank, no nee fish. Nothing new added such as decor. The only changes of anykind of late is the heat and rhe rehoming of the SDs. But she ate fine was normal for a week or more after the SDs left so at a loss why she is not eating. Think its rhe heat?

I tried her normal food Hikari Carnisticks, nope won't eat them. Tried some NLS 4.5mm floating food, nope won't eat it either. Even tried blood worms which she normally attacks them. Nope didn't eat one worm...

86 is getting pretty warm although it shouldn't be fatal over a week. I'd try to drop the temp a bit with some colder water changes or floating a few ice packs. If you could get it down closer to 80 then see how she responds. As you know Oscars tend to sulk when something happens that they don't like.

Another thought is to get some extra aeration going as higher heat lowers the available oxygen in your water

So I put some bottles of water I had in the freezer for me to drink during this heat wave in her tank.

They are bobbing around like buoys in her tank and she is giving some serious side eye to them. I would water change and cool it has well, but used the last of my Prime yesterday in the normal water change day.
Think that could be it, the last of the prime? It wasn't an old bottle or anything. I get a new 500ml bottle every month. Thats about how much I use a month. I did a water test and all was normal.
Ammo. 0
Nitrite. 0
Nitrate. 5

Well it worked, combo of ice bottles and added surface agitation got her hungry. Or maybe it was attacking the ice bottles. But at lunch time I showed her the food bag and she came running, tossed one in and she attacked it with her normal gusto so I think shes back to normal. I got the temp down to 80, then took out the ice bottles. Figured a 5deg drop in a couple hours is plenty for one day. Only hit 70 outside today as well thats probably helping some.

Thanks goodness it was just the temp. Scary.

Right, glad it was just the heat, my mind was trying to think of some other reason. Nothing new in her tank, no changes in a week, and that was just taking fish out.My Apts butts up to a city maintenance lot, thought maybe some bad dust got in the tank.
Toni knows when it's meal time. About 15min early she normally goes to the feeding area and starts staring at the waters surface for food. Well she is doing that now since dinner is at seven. So it looks it just must have been a heat issue.
