ozz, you could get away with just having the following for what you're building;

1. Drill
2. Phillips bit
3. Countersink bit
4. Miter saw
5. Screws
6. 2x2s

thast very true , made a rack over the week end and only missed the miter saw ,could have really used it , i will prob get in carpentry soon so im looking for the best deals on other tools as well.

Garage sales or Craigslist is the way to go. Take advantage of people buying things they never end up using.

on the random orbit sanders,the disc dosnt spin full speed the entire time right,it just kind of rotates how it wants,not like a disc sander?

Random orbital sanders just rotates in a not so circular pattern. They actually give a cleaner finish.

well I was just making sure,I got one because my belt sander is a bit much on some jobs,but I thought they spun real fast,well they do but in a diferent motion,and the disc kind of just free spins on top of that.I just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with it.
