TOOLs OF ALL TRADES

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Dude, I can honestly say I have never had a single fault with any harbor freight tools.

Example:
I bought a 30 inch drop drill press [3 speed belt drive and plunge meter] on sale for 80 bucks! It has been one of the most reliable tools in my garage. I was thinking about picking up an end mill vice table for the drill to do some small machining work on aluminum.

Even the stock belt that the drill press came with was very high quality and has lasted 4 years over steady usage.

I also have a harbor freight engine stand and hoist, portable band saw, several hand tools, and a few flashlights. One of the flashlights had an LED go out about a year after I bought it. They replaced it with the newer version without even asking a question. The new version works great and is brighter.

Harbor freight FTW

I've got this portable table saw. It's pretty nice I can't cut anything huge but I can move it around or take it with me if needed it's not that heavy and the legs come off. So for the size and portablity it's Sweet.

and it doesn't cut to bad. The only drawback is that the cord is pretty short.

I would love to get a good jointer but I just don't really have the room.

Another thing that I LOVE is my F.U. B.A.R. !!!!! http://www.stanleytools.com/default...me™+Fubar™+Functional+Utility+Bar

they also Have A 30" one that I would LOVE to have. if you need a all around tool for taking stuff apart this is it.

My trusty pair of pliers have always been useful. I always carry them with me, just because the odd occasion pops up where they can be used more often than not.

i was doing alot of contracting work, including flooring, which saw me using a wide array of saws and tools for wood floors.

the best ive found....CRAFTSMAN. when used right, they break and have problems about as often as the Dewalt or other high priced brand that cost 3x the amount, and perform not much different. Then, when something breaks, i just go buy a new one for the same price as the bills gonna be at the repair shop, plus im done with that job and onto my next by the time your tool is out of the shop.

Ive had several contractors literally laugh in my face becuase they thought they were above me, because i hadent spent thousands on fancy yellow tools.

That's not a bad idea....

I, too, am a brand junkie. Ryobi, FTW. I have about half the line of original one+ 18v line (chainsaw, nail gun, right angle drill, compressor, sander, grinder, shop vac) and all work without problem. The true gem of the line, however, is the LiIon one+ line. I have a circular saw, drill, recip saw, and flash light. All of the tools have been redesigned and have a really nice hand feel, they hold much more like corded power tools in regards to weight distribution. That, and the batteries are really light and are backwards compatible with all the other one+ tools. This way, when you need a new power tool, you'll end up spending about $40.

If I can find it in ryobi, I usually just buy from harbor freight. It's hit or miss, so I only buy specialty tools that I don't use a whole lot. For example, I bought a backup air compressor from their that is leaky as a sieve, but I also bought a jig saw from there that has worked like a beast for over a year with no real problems.

With handtools, I really like either husky or HF.
