torn on my handgun option

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The wound cavitys are nearly the same size with the larger 9 having a cavity of smaller size. But the penetration is what kills. Think bird shot. Leaves horrid wounds but shallow. No point in having an awesome wound cavity if its not reaching vitals. Both calibers do that quite well. Those arnt even using +p or +p+ loads. Those are insanly fast loads. Buffalo bore is about to unleash a 115gr barnes tac xp(solid copper hollow point, one of the best bullets on the market) 9mm that will 1400 fps. A couple companys have 124 gr at 1300+ fps. Lets see the wound cavity from those. Whats the 40 doing? And what fps is the legendary 357 mag loading?

According to chuck hawks, factory ballistics table call for the magnum to push a 125 grain projectile to 1450. Look at the 9mm loads i posted again. Hmmmm

And a 22 against bears?!?!

The cavities look a inch or 2 wider than the 9mm, penetration is the same according to you so y not have something that will do more damage?
And yes if I'm on a fishing trip with some buddies in bear country all I need is a 22...if a bear attacks shot your buddy in a knee cap...bad joke my dad told his boss on a fishing trip lol

Heard that joke before. Lol. Those cavity are very similar, not enough imo to decide 40(or 10mm light ;) ) a superior round excluding barrier penetration. The rounds I listed are very very close to 357 mag rounds. Those will do FAR more damage then the rounds used in that pic. Both are great rounds imo but if ur gonna go with a 40 cal might as well get its parent, the far superior 10mm.

Personally, I still want a 9x25mm dillion for carry . Muahahaha

i want to buy some guns!!!!! all this talk about different ones makes me want it more!!!! this is going to be the longest week of my life!!!! every other time i wanted something i just went out and got it, now i have to wait:nilly: if i could just buy it then wait three days i could do that, but now i have to wait and look at the money:cry: sometimes my state sucks!

I walk in, no permit, and walk out gun in hand. The way the founding fathers wanted :D.

Now I want a new gun.

Must be nice...if you have a permit top carry (of you need one) do you get to conceal it while going into so stores? Where I'm at the local sheriff is having all of the stores put up signs that say no guns, then if you go in with one cups get called and you get taken off the property and told if you come back youll be trespassing and go to jail...last I knew nobody could take our rights away, or discriminate...I think something like this happened before in like the 20s but that was for being black...

We have whats call licence to carry firearms. Its not needed to carry openly except in city of first class, which is only phily and during a state of emergency. For conceled, vehicles and the previously mentioned places, then you need the ltcf. A store can ask you to leave or cover but there is no laws against it. You can concel a full sized rifle or shotgun without a ltfc too.

If your local sherrif is telling stores they have to put those signs up, it sounds like its time to file complaints etc

Your local sheriff has no authority other than to enforce laws, if there are no laws against carrying he needs to be reminded of what he gets paid to do.

Gonna say upfront I'm NOT a gun person, my brother's the real expert (1st Lieutenant USMC)

That said I bought a Smith & Wesson .500 recently per my brother's advice and highly, highly, highly recommend it. It's definitely not a good weapon to carry around on a daily basis. But it's so damn fun to shoot! And Rick from Walking Dead uses one, so we know it's effective against zombies. Win/Win!

EDIT: Not a pic of my actual gun, but this is what it looks like:
