tortoise table/coffee table idea?

How about these for dimensions, would this be enough for say a single russian tortoise?
4feet Long, 2 feet wide, living area 18" high
I was thinking maybe have a small radient heat panel off to one side for kindof a basking area, but would that be ok for a tortoise?

not sure on the basking/heat panel. i would say 5x2 to house it for life (bear in mind I don't know how big russians get) but if you were to house it in this, you would need to let it out somewhere to run a larger area each day :)

Id say 5 x 2 as well as a minimum. Go absolutely as large as possible, dont cut corners. But I would do it deeper than 18 inches. Perhaps 30 inches? A little wider wouldnt hurt as well.

Im not a tortiose expert, but a flood lamp should get you the proper temps and range you need. :)

Of course if you buy a small tortise it's going to take a while to grow too big. It could live in their quite happily for a couple of years then move it to a bigger enclosure and get something else to live in the table.

Cheers

Tortoises don't "climb" .. so it doesnt need to be 30 inches tall.

If it was to be functional, would it maybe a bit stressing for a tortoise to be always veiwed and stood over from above etc? Just thoughts....
