So I ordered some fish and plants online from what looked like a good site.... This was my first time ordering fish online. They been in business for sometime and seemed to have a good selection...

Package came on time...(Today 9-7) Packed well, but the stuff they packed...

18 tiger barbs, 1/3 of them just over half an inch... barely out of the fry stage. 2 of those died today.

12 cory cats, but they only sent 9 (even though the slip and tag on the bag said 12) and 6 were DOA, the seventh one died this afternoon.. The final two are hiding, I hope..

Plants were okay, but I was not impressed. I emailed but haven't heard anything back... I would love a good LFS, but I live in the woods, and the closest one is 85 miles away... Is this the norm? Who do you buy from online?

what company did you use, and how many days were fish in transit?
there is a vendor section on site here in marketplace...

Why don't you tell us who these fish came from? We pretty much know them all on here.

I'm wondering why you didn't just buy them at your local PetCo / PetsMart? Those are fish that are regularly stocked, and you can at least choose the healthy ones.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, though. That's a lot of fish in only a few bags, though, so it doesn't really surprise me.

I don't want to ***** about someone until I hear what they have to say about my order... They are not available on Friday (today) so I will wait.. If I don't like their response... you can bet I will put it up on here..

There were six bags of fish... 3 with 6 tiger barbs each and 3 with 3 corys each.... not a lot of water though... I didn't do petco / petsmart... as I thought I was getting a better product.... :(

A couple of things:

1). Your tank is cycled? 20 + fish at once is a very large load, even though your fish are small.
2) documentation. Normally people require pictures to be sent within 30 min or so of receiving dead fish for any credit, sometimes they require dead fish inside unopened bags.

that's too high of mortality for overnight and especially with small fish.
companies usually have their DOA policy posted online.

just because a company has good advertising, doesn't mean it gives best attention to details of shipping & orders. in fact some of the best are more known through hobbyists' references, and less Ads.

My tank is a new 180 that has been cycling with 2 sponge filters from an existing tank. These are the first fish in the tank. Levels are just great for livestock and plants have been growing since I filled the tank up. There is no real DOA policy on their web site that I can find..other than email us and will make it right..... Make it right???? What about the dead fish??? I can't understand why someone who sells live fish will not even check / respond to their email on day of delivery.. Poor fish and even poorer service.
