Yeah, I'm running plenty of those. Will pet stores exchange them all on the same-day or do I have to play musical heaters and do them one by one?

Petsmart took mine in with now receipt or packaging. They exchanged it for an aqueon pro which looks similiar to the stealth. I even had cash back from the trade in :grinno:.

Vitaly we wish you the best. So sorry to hear about what happened. One of my worst nightmares as a fish keeper.

Wow awful loss. Good luck with the move and thanks for another reminder about those heaters. Just found one in a box in my extra supplies. Going to bring it in for a replacement.

Wow... I need to call petsmart, and see if they can give me heater exchange for about 30! These are all I use.

I've never had an issue with them, and most of mine are new. So I wasn't gonna replace them.

But, at this magnitude, I don't wanna take the chance.

Sorry for your lost..

"The heater shorts out and the fire starts in the cord causing the outlet to catch fire"

Will an extension cord with a trip circuit prevents this? If it will then it's a cheap insurance for you and your fish?

im taking 3 in monday for this reason... time for more fluvals
i would suggest not getting fluval nor aqueon i had bad experince with them and this incident almost happened to me if i wasnt home.
the fluval i got i did not remember what series but it was the glass one, it broke in my tank sending electricity and smoke in my tank, good thing no damage done since i was there and quickly disconnect the power.
the aqueon i got was "shatter proof" made with metal ( i think its the pro series, black metal rod), i put it in my my sump-pump which happened to be rubber plastic tub, it did not shatter like they claim, but it shot out its inner guts (ceramic and wire coil) like a shot gun making a big hole in my tub resulting partial flood on my floor(imagine that if i put the heater in my 240G tank) , thanks god i have tile flooring, again its sending electricity to my tank.
what i found out is those heater i have and most of them have faulty design/enginer.
i now use ehiem jager, and it does seems to be better enginered/design out of all but i am still crossing my fingers.
and also theres one made by CA(catalina aquarium) which looks pretty solid design and its titanium.

Fluval E series is what i use. Ive yet to have a problem. Knock on wood.
