Trimac Tribute Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
trimacs are pretty easy , just watch your fish and of course later you can vent them . remember males are always pointy or if you turn them it looks like a v , females look rounder or squarish or like an o . i dont like to take fish out unless their being moved . i usually go by looks and personality ...nice pics again

rodald , man that must have sucked when you seen that full grown dead trimac , i think that would have hurt any of us . wish i was out there . good luck fish catching ..when you get that 16 incher make sure you post pics :naughty: , later bro

What are the ways to distinguish gender of Trimacs? Can you go by fin extensions or are there more definite qualities to look for? Albertjr hooked me up with a few young ones. They are still too small to tell but I'd still like to know what to look for when they're older. BTW has your pair bred again? That darn pleco!

Look for a dark spot on the dorsal fin a male will never have it.

Yes Gruff they did I have fry swimming around now.

Awesome! Thanks for the sexing info. You were right about your Trimac pair breeding, it wasn't long at all.

Managed to see my first Trimac a few days ago - what a wonderful looking Cichlid. I had one of those moments where you think should I shouldnt I, but I walked away ! lol

Great Trimacs everyone!!! Here's a picture of mine that I posted yesterday. He's so hard to get a clear picture of since he loves to attack anything that comes near the glass. He's about 11-12" and bought from Rapps at around 1".

It's good to see this thread still going. There are some really nice Trimacs on display. It looks like my growouts have already paired off. The dominant pair is keeping the other two in another area. I didn't expect to have to lose two so soon. But the odd two have to go before they are hurt. Very nice cichlids!

Beautiful Trimac one of the best I've seen, great form and markings. Great job with him! Jeff's stock is second to none IMO.

Great looking trimac. Reminds me of the one I used to have that I posted earlier in this thread. He came from Rapps too. :)
