One out of my two black convicts is lighter than the other one. I suspect they are about 4 months old. There is still no sign of any orange on the belly. Should i just hang tight or what?
at a small amount of salt to the tank, bump the temp up to low 80's..... and start feeding with bloodworms frozen or non doesnt matter..... just be sure thats what you want cause once they start they wont stop.. i breed em myself so just follow those guide lines..
?? if your asking if they will get color yes... but they will also get into breeding mode...... which is what you want if your going to breed them
I'll give them the bloodworms for sure b/c I'm not sure of the exact age of my convicts or the sex. I don't see any color in them yet although one is lighter looking than the other so i don't know if that one is the female. The lighter one is the non aggressive one like a female would be. The black convicts are about 2 inches apiece. Do you think the lighter one is the female? I guess the bloodworms will help bring out some color. How soon after a steady diet of bloodworms do you thing I might see a color difference?
all depends on your fish itself.. but u shud be able to tell male and female.. males grow an extremely pointy dorsal fin and are ussualy more plump and have a bigger head.... the females head is ussualy much more sloped toward the nose and ussualy has a slightly plumper abdominal area...
would it be ok to put 2 pairs of convicts in a 20 gallon tank? Or maybe 2 females and 1 male. What's the best scenario?
well i ussualy do 2 males 3 females in a 30.... so i mean a 20 would be fine just throw them all in with plants and plenty hiding spots and let them pair off first the males shud try and claim territory than claim there females
