i might get a 300g tank 78x28x28 and was thinking wc baby trout and then letting them go when they get 6-7" what would i ned to keep them and how fast do they grow
Perfect, no wild caught trout and even if you do get wc then NEVER RELEASE THEM!!!!! They can contaminate new diseases to other fish and create almost like a fish plague. An example would be Carp Herpies virus. I would suggest 1-2 rainbow trout or 2-4 brook trout purchased from a hatchery.Rays of Sunshine;4817784; said:Bad idea of keeping trout to later release them. You could potentially set off disease, parasites, etc... in lakes, streams and more. It is also against the law.
Exactly its just not worth going through all of the equipment you need and have the trout wind up dieing in a week or two. If you want something for a 300gallon try some SMBSemperFish;4817912; said:I think you would probably need a chiller and alot of current. Others might know more about this but I had considered game fish before and ruled out trout for this reason.

A disease from the tank or other fish in the tank also, trust me new diseases can be released when you release a fish from a tanklongliveledzep;4818288; said:how would a local trout get any disease that they can't get in the wild also i know someone with a pond who keeps trout and i know a lake up in the mountens that stocks trout that has no waw for the trout to get out
