Regardless, what your talking about doing is illegal pretty much everywhere, and it COULD harm the environment...if you dont care about that then you shouldn't be keeping any fish IMO
:iagree:

still illegal either you keep em or ya dont

1. in that case your trout will be tank raised and may get disease X or bacteria X from being tank raised that isnt present in the lake, therefore when you release them they fish in the lake may get an outbreak of whatever the tank raised fish has.

2. the trout will be tank raised and will probably die fast from starvation in the lake.

3. If you keep it for your aquarium, then keep them till they die. never release a fish from captivity. thats how the snakehead invaded many lakes in USA

never release the fish.

but i would love to make a trout tank

one time a put a 3 in wild caught in my tank but it died within 5 hours

You could kill that entire landlocked lake's trout population. Also, your poor fish will probably die when they swim around the lake wondering where the pellet food is. Everyone on the thread has told you not to do this. Isn't that enough? Stop trying to rationalize this. It's illegal and it's wrong.

OK I'll state it as simply as possible.
The laws say you cannot release a fish into the wild.
It does not refer to where the fish came from or where in the wild its going. It just says dont do it or you are breaking the law! Thats all it needs to say. You can do all the research you want into particular reasons why its illegal, but they dont really change whether or not its illegal does it?
Oh and before someone says it - Catch and Release means right away! not after youve taken it home
