trout tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ok i won't let them go i'll give them to someone i know who has a large pond with trout and would be happy to take them but can anyone tell me how fast they grow and what i would need

never release fish if they are captive it can be deadly cause of things such as parasites and disease..but um trout isnt exactly a good idea for a native tank..go with bass or possibly pike..but remember dont release..its illegal to

The main thing to take into consideration is temperature. Rainbows suffer in temperatures much over 60 degrees, so a chiller is a must. They also need fairly clean water, and since beneficial bacteria metabolize waste slower in low temps, you will need plenty of filtration. Beyond that, they are really not that different from any fish - feed them trout chow and worms and they will grow fast.

thank you i was thinkg about a diy chiller with a mini freezer i found 1.5 foot freeezer that can go -20 and running cooper tubeing in a pool of water inside of that

What's the BTU rating on the freezer? Most freezers can't remove heat fast enough to be useful as a chiller. You're better off looking for a used chiller on Craigslist or eBay. A lobster tank chiller or two would do the job.
