trout

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I believe it was an 80 gallon or so..I dont have it anymore and it was homemade so I dont even remember the size. I didnt have any aeration just a hob filter. They were just brook trout I caught in a little brook beside my house. Didnt even know about power heads back then!

That's kinda cool that you can just step outside and catch some brookies

Anyone know where to find trout or has trout and can ship to me?
Hold on your horses! You have to find them locally since most state laws required them to be tested for lethal diseases that can threatened the wild stocks. Otherwise they cannot ship the trout across the state lines. Also do you have proper experiment to keep them alive? You just can't chunk them in your pond outside. Maybe this isn't good idea see how you have no experiences with most natives.

Ok, I take back that trout comment! MN has opened my eyes that I cannot keep trout right now. Maybe I might set up my extra 55 as a trout grow-out.

(didn't read the whole thread)
There is current in lakes. that's why when people fall through ice, they get pulled underneath it by strong currents immediately. their bodies are always FAR far away from point of origin, way on the other end of lakes.

Have you checked NJ's fish and fishing regs? They differ from state to state, so you may be able to keep them in NJ, where in MN you may not (or may) be able to. Just depends on the individual state's regs.

No man, all salmonids are required to be test for any diseases before they can export/import them. It's not in the fishing regulations since it has no fishing related at anyways.

What if they stay "in state"? Same difference? I know there are some folks that are keeping trout, just wondering how they get around the regulations if they're like that everywhere.
