trying to breed convicts for live food lol

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ya hoping for a nice big batch :) and hopefully the fry can survive iv never had a fry before so not sure what all to do and when I have a breeder net and bbs here just incase

First pic is a male. Second pic and third both appear to be female. Pick the male and the largest female and remove the other two. The larger female will produce more fry. Warning: the ten gallon is too small and if the male is overzealous he will try to breed her too often and end up stressing her to death. It is important to monitor the situation constantly and make sure she is getting time to rest recover and fatten up again in between spawns. Otherwise she is surely doomed as there is no room in a ten for her to get away from him when she needs to. A 29 is a minimum and a 40 breeder is optimum in my opinion. Though you could pull the male and leave the female with her fry in between spawns. I would suggest at least four weeks between spawns for her to recover her health.

Wow lmao, none of this is true I have been breeding convicts for a decade and a 10gallon is fine, it will stunt their growth but they will definitely breed and the male will not stress the female out lol.

Yea we got bros in the Piranha section breeding these guys in tens, not necessarily ideal but it works.

Everyone's got their own opinion guys, especially when it comes to fish! Kiss and make up ;)

*Go S. Vettel #1 RBR! 3 BACK TO BACK WDC AND CONSTRUCTERS!

agree everyone has their own opinion but facts is facts and a ten is too small. Plain and simple. Just because it is being done does not make it right.

remind you these cons that are being bred in the p section are for food lol.... Not to house permanently!

If you like cons of cichlids that's great, personally I could never stand them!
