Trying to breed Convicts

i just started breeding convicts also, i have mine in a 10gallon with sand i put a clay pot in there and they layed eggs in the pot in about a week and half.

sweet could u show me a pic of ur set up, i would love to see! i need to get some females in my 15 gallon. would a blue and grey convict breed?

i dont mind cleaning my tank with the plants, should i get a little log or one of those ones that look like a retarded spider?

today i went out and bout 6 more convicts. now totaling 10 in total in my tank. im 100% positive there are 3 females now. i also added a few more features such as a light layer of gravel. a small piece of driftwood of the log looking type not the retarded monkey's paw looking type. the new convicts are all much larger then my original 4. i would estimate their sizes anywhere between 1''-1.5''. heres a few new pics of the lot.

Hi m8 nice looking tank i moved my 2.5foot breeding tank yesterday, there were 1 cons very first spawn ever and i moved the fish out, took all the water out except 1cm moved the tank to somewhere else, filled it back up with fresh water added rocks and some gravel, then put the fish back in

and the eggs are still there, and the mother is tending them,
my convicts are 4/5f 2m and so far there has been 2 definete loads of eggs the 1st were all eaten i think something which i need to try to sort out,

btw mine are about 1" the females, ill get some pics later

please do take some pics of the mother and her eggs and ur set up. from the time u got them how long was it until u had ur first spawn?

hi, i did another post in this forum, check it out its probably #1 or 2 from the very top, (how to sex convicts) there my fish,

my adult pair of cons lay eggs about ever 2 -3weeks but there in a community tank so they never get to spawn, .....btw pleco's are really bad for breeding tanks they eat the eggs

once the cons reach the 1inch size and you can see there colour there about ready to breed, see my photos' int he other thread there all at breeding size
