TSNs all get the same size. Only difference is pattern really. Limas are not TSN and do stay smaller. Average is about 13-16" with the occassional 18-20"er

maybe so but i was told they will grow around 2 feet in a 180. the guy at one of my LFS(Fairly trust worthy actually) has one in a 125 that he has had for 3 years and its 19". obviously stunting the fish. how bad for the fish is it?
well you can get one small and youll have him awile befor he gets really big and hell by that time you might just wanna sell him for something new. you never know. everyone plans on keeping a fish for life but fact is most people will just get bord of seeing them everyday and will look for something new and end up selling him. not saying all but alot of people, it happends. just think about it and if you think your ok then gofor it youll have time in the meantime to think and look it over.
ok thanks for the advice. I've been pretty solid about keeping fish for life so far. i had an albino cory for 9 years, a gold gouraimi for 8 years which grew to 7" and a 6" red tail shark that i had for 9 years. i know what you mean though especially with college and adulthood just around the corner.
yeah but I'm talking about aquariums not wild. i think when y'all say required tank size it means that the fish will not stunt, right? well i know that fish usually only grow to 1/2 to 2/3 off their potential wild sizes. this is because their kept in more average required tank sizes. so maybe thats why people say you can keep one in a 180.
