TSN LOG: START TO FINISH

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Have you thought about putting some sort of more substantial hide in the container? It looks like he's trying to cover himself with the equipment there, he might be more willing to eat if he had a proper hiding place...

Ive tried but anything I put in there spooks him pretty bad, and he never had one at the LFS and he ate great there.

Ill put in some plastic plants tonite and see what that does for him

If you're putting the plants in, you might as well put in a hide while you're at it. It will probably spook him a little bit at first no matter what, but after a while I bet he'd start using it if you left it in there.

im surprised that ur having trouble getting him to eat. my experience with them had been that they eat everything. just raised different i guess.

Well left him alone for awhile and he massacred the ghost shrimp in there and ate a couple rosys. going to try frozen brine shrimp and beef heart tonite, hopefully i can get him off feeders by the end of the week.

Changed the water about 20% and put in some prime.

His color is still rather light

Going to put a hiding spot, and a plant in there for him tonite.

Sounds like an improvement at least! I really think it will help him to relax to have a proper hide. Try checking out the reptile area, the fake logs that would work for snakes/lizards should work really well (provided they sink, not float in water).

Well, went and got a better heater so im bumping the temp. up to 82 degrees.

also got a clay pot for a hiding spot...

here is an updated pic.

I would say even if you don't see him use it, leave the pot in there. It doesn't do any harm, and he may be using it anyway when you're not there.
