well, i guess its good you came on here for advice, are you new at keeping fish? i dont mean to be rude or discourage you from seeking advice in the future but this is the story that gets me so freaking mad everytime i hear something like this. the other people suggested great foods to feed your fish, but may i suggest you try to find an appropriate home with someone who knows what they are doing and has done the reasearch required to really own one of these amazing animals. ALL the food you could ever need to feed your fish is at your local fish store, and at the most, some shrimp from the market or smelt fillets, it couldnt be an easier problem to figure out, PLEASE find an appropriate home and appropriate owner for this animal, because, it is not you

we all as hobbyists start out somewhere-:chillpill: even the seasoned ones that have been around longer than I have with decades of breeding under their belt. You can't judge people and tell people what fish they can and can't own.

there are so many things out there that will work for some people and wont work for others. we're all on the same page that hotdogs isn't a great idea. But with high fat/protein content its a great feed for commerical fish being raised to be eaten as they don't need to live long- they just need to be grown fast and this is a great combo like a trout chow- something I just learned after having a great discussion about a specific new food on the market- I just saw a video of koi keepers feeding their koi bottles of milk because that method works for them. Breeders will pass down the strange feeds to their customers in turn...

the person asking the question is doing a great thing for its fish. They're asking questions and questions what is the best for their fish that they have. They're getting the right steps in a certain direction for knowledge.

I'm a hypocrite but I do get rubbed the wrong way sometimes asking the same and same questions over and over so yes I should remind myself more often that people are asking for help and seeking knowledge as there is too much information jammed in the internet and its overwhelming trying to ingore the sales sites and try to get the real information. But I'll never tell people they're unfit keepers and do not deserve to keep fish- I'll discourage people from getting hard to keep fish at first and to start out easy.

I think anybody can keep fish- let them learn and grow from the experience doesn't matter what species of fish it is. They learn the best by their mistakes and why are you even upset over a freaking hybrid. Beautiful in their own right- its a freaking hybrid not an endangered species. They're dime a dozen compared to other catfish out there. I see them just the same as oscars. People get them for a reason because they're cool looking and its a great fish to learn from your mistakes. Its really bascially no different than a goldfish when people learn their mistakes they learn well. All of us- including you started somewhere in some point of our lives. I have kept fish as long as my memory can go my dad was an avid hobbyist as well.... but I know when I was a kid I made a couple of mistakes that I will never make again.

Please do change your attitude and encourage people to do the right thing as well as educate them that hotdogs might work for some farmers/breeders but isn't a great idea for a loved pet if they want to live long.

Feeding a fish a turkeydog is not abuse, no more than feeding a human a milkshake, or something else equally unhealthy. You have overreacted like some sort of fanatical zealot...please, as I suggested before, get some perspective on life...it's a friggin turkeydog....

pelleted foods are no more natural than hotdogs.
none of my fish will touch massivore-and penny per protein gramm its about as expensive as caviar (minor exaggeration).
try to give as wide a selection of wet food as possible try those cheap frozen shops and markets-thaw before use please.
some good and bad points made so far but i agree that reserch rules-books over net almost always -but read as much as you can as many books are simply amalgamations of prior books and the authors have no experience of the species in question.
read then read again and learn from life- other peoples as well as your own you might like to contact a local club as talking to experienced keepers can be better tan taking advice from a ten year old with a stupid avatar and a lot of imagination.
never stop learning-lesson 1 you have already completed : dont feed the dogs.
good luck and keep those water changes monster.

Golcondorus, please stop trolling and hurling insults to members around. Inflammatory remarks will never be tolerated. The OP asked a valid question. There is no reason for you to start throwing mud around without justifying your reasons well and not going overboard about it. Further derails to divert from the original topic will be dealt with accordingly. Thanks.

Market shrimp squid, scallops and other goodies are fine too...

im glad you all see how rediculouus that was haha
hes taken to the massivore so thanks for all your help he seems very happy now!

I dont know however why he is swimming around so much.. i posted on the rtc & tsn info page but i duno if anyone looks at that one.. is it normal for him to be continuously moving and swimming all over the tank?

thanks!

Don't have a rtc/tsn or large cat just my eclipse =D ( I don't have the proper tank size for one of these awesome beasts) But of the ones i've met and helped care for in the past. This is normal behavior. depending on how much your feeding how often he may be looking for food, but a swimming fish is a happy fish ime. Does he have a hide spot? me may also be looking for cover. My eclipse covers in his slate cave.. and he'll come darting out like a house on fire when I toss food in.. then dart back. I know some of the larger catsa re more active and "out and about". Sounds like normal behavior. BUt I'm sure one of these gusy will have a diffinitive answer to this.

My bets he's just feeling frisky w/ the high quality food. I know hotdogs make me feel icky in the tummy if I have them to often.
