turning a 125 into a sump

well i have the extra room for the bigger socks thats for sure. also for the media i got the drum full for $15 so im set there. about half of each or so. but if im going to add even more then it will prolly be scrubbies unless i find another good deal. what size socks would you suggest as i have never dealt with them before and how much room for them.
 
I'm running the 7" diameter socks. They do a really good job, just don't cheap out on them. Go to McMaster-Carr and buy the good ones for $4. I have some of the Cheap-O ones and they are filling up really fast.
 
thank you very much on the suggestion on where to buy them. and dont worry i wont cheap out on a $4 sock lol. but thanks for the warning. are they reusable or do i need to buy alot? and you said you wish you wouldve went bigger so bigger than a 7 incher?
 
ok well... now i see why you say dont cheap out so many choices. what particle size do you suggest. you seem happy with yours but wish for bigger. so if you went bigger what one would you get?
 
just some quick advice. Really put alot of thought into your overflows....With that pump you have you are going to be pushing alot of water. I have the same exact pump and I am running 2" internal overflows with 2" overflow lines...they are noisy as hell. I am going to have to modify them in the future.

Well, I just wish I would have cut down some of the bio area and gave myself a bit more room for the socks. I like the 7" x 16" bags. I usually stuff a 100 micron inside of a 50 micron. This give you a two stage filtration setup. Although, i am thinking about trying the 100/50 combo bags from McMaster. they seem to accomplish the same goal at the same price with a little less effort in washing.
 
thanks for the suggestion fallen49er i have 3 2" lines coming from 3 2" overflows. im hoping they are not too noisy.
and i think im going to go with the two in ones same size or should i go with the 8" x 32" since 3 2" pipes are going to be going in it?
