thanks ross as i signed in today i was just thinking about that since at the other house i have an 6 foot sheet of wooden pegboard i could use. and egon im just not finding any of that around here. could i ask where you got it?

I got it at a local hardware store. You might be able to order it on line? I went to the peg board companies web site and put in my town or zip code and the web site spit out a few hardware stores in the area that carried it. It was no big deal finding it.
thanks egon i think i will just drill it then i have 2 boards i can drill and have a pattern already. i went to alot of hardware stores over the past couple weeks and a few use to carry it but not any more.
I hope this makes sense, MS paint really stinks. Anyway, this is what I was taking about then I mentioned adding a baffle to get the water to enter the refuge at the bottom. You could go straight from the prefilter w/o these walls but odds are you will have substrate on the bottom for your plants and you want to keep that contained. These baffles only have to be an inch or so apart. The green section is your refuge, you golden section is wet/dry filter media be it bio balls, scrubbies, foam....
