Two Fluval FX6's or Custom Sump

I'd get two, and yes that's plenty of filtration. The tank you are getting is 6' long, so you can have intakes/returns and both ends and get good circulation throughout the tank. Once it's cycled, you won't read ammonia or nitrite as long as you stay on top of water changes. I do 75-80% weekly.

If you're just running the Fluvals, then you may want to consider adding aeration. It would be pretty easy to set up an air pump with an air stone in each corner, and the tank would be plenty oxygenated.

FX-6 maintenance isn't that bad. Just don't put anything in it that requires being changed like filter floss, carbon, purigen etc. I have bio media in the bottom 2.5 baskets, and the very top I have Bio-Foam. It's very low maintenance.

Would an air stone be okay for the Piraya? And would it give enough oxygenation if I put two on each side? Do I need both an air pump and the stones? Or can I just buy stones? As you can tell I'm very new.

As well, I was thinking of using a powerhead but I have heard they can be dangerous if they short out.

What all options do I have for oxygenation? Air pump, powerhead, air stone, Aquaclear 110, What else?

I'm not sure just an HOB will aerate enough. I like to play it safe. Low oxygen is bad. The Fluval FX weakness is they don't really aerate. A wet/dry sump will aerate very well, obviously .

I think two stones is sufficient. I put one each in the back corners. Each of my back corners has the Fluval intake/return, an Eheim Jager 300, and a stone.

There area lot of options, but here's what I have currently.

And you have a 180 right? Mine will now be 240. Only filled up to 160-180 though. Would 2 still be enough or would I want three in this case?

Yes, 180. Two is plenty IMHO. That's still a lot of air moving through your water column 24/7. I like keeping everything in the back corners for aesthetic reasons, and I also like symmetry on a long tank, so two works for me. You could always measure the dissolved oxygen level if it's a big concern.

Imo, if you're gonna run air stones, you might as well run them through sponge filters. If you can afford the space in your tank that is.
My tank is a display tank, so sponges are a non starter. In my setup, you can't even see the stones or airline unless you really look for them, and the bubbles stay in the back corners as well.

It says that the pump, is rated for 100 gallons. Can I still use them to aerate if I have 240 gallons?

I say go with 2 FX6's, I don't like depending on one filter to run my tank. I don't service them both at the same time, usually 2 weeks apart from each other. If for some reason you upset the biological cycle in the filter while servicing it you still have the other filter to handle things until the other filter catches back up again. I would also run a power head with a sponge on it in there as well for aeration and added biological insurance.
