Two Green Terrors in one tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have read so many posts from you and eveytime it gets worse and worse. There is no way the fish you have now should be in that 55. Nor should two gt. IMO you shouldn't have fish at all. Everyone tries to help you but you have yet to learn

I'm not gonna beat up on you any more than others are already doing. I'm just gonna say that it's frustrating to people who try to help you when you come asking for help with your fish, then a couple days later you make a post about MORE fish you bought. I know what it's like to want to have every single fish you see or read about. But you have to learn to live within your means. I have a decent amount of money I have budgeted for my hobbies, and my own house. But even I realize I can't keep EVERY kind of fish I'm interested in.

You have to learn to find joy in taking the very best care of the fish you have, instead of buying more fish.

I'm completely transitioning to cichlids, the predator variety is too large, and cichlids are agressive and some are small, So I think this will work the best, This will be my 55g stocklist

1 Green Terror
2 Convicts
1 Firemouth
1 Jewel Cichlid
1 Jack Dempsey

Considering your experience level and understand of these fish, i still wouldn't recommend housing a Saum with a Dempsey in a 55g. It could work with that stock list, but with only either the GT or the Dempsey

Here are the problems I see with this:

1) Jewel cichlid is african and the rest are american. Africans require different ph levels and related compared to americans.
2) A 55 gallon really would be good for one of the selections in your list as they all get fairly decent size for a 55 gallon over time.

I personally think you should pick one from above, add some dithers like silver dollars and concentrate on the aquascaping.

I currently have 2 GTs and a Jack Dempsey in a 90 gallon and the Jack Dempsey is going to have to be moved at some point, once the GTs start reaching their potential. (I also want to move her because I am trying to make my tank strictly South American).

Actually Jewels have similar water requirements as CA/SA's.

Again although new and still very much learning I'm not new to forums and the OP reeks of a troll.....

So your parents are letting you return your fish? This is great news. Return them all. Get a convict for your 55g. Convicts are great little monsters, and one won't outgrow your 55g. Honestly bud, for you right now in this learning stage, one fish is the right amount. Convict.

I'll do some experimenting and see how it works, if not the JD has to go, I got rid of my killer JD and bought a small one, and I think I'm going to keep the GT that is being picked on, I think he is less agressive the only prob is the mean one will eat and the other will not.

IMO i would sell or take back all your fish and keep a small group of firemouthes they can be colorful like the GTs but stay at a relatively small size like convicts they are a bit aggressive though.

i agree with the advise already on here you should start by housing and possibly breeding convicts if you are successful then its time to upgrade fish to something a bit more advanced given you do the research and are able to house them properly, or sell your stock and get all africans this way you can have plenty of different colored fish in one tank which seems to me is what you like to do
