So six people trap you and your partner in a room with no reasonable route of escape, armed with a knife and your not allowed to defend your partner without getting sentenced to attempted murder? If that's the law sod going to Canada, sounds like the only country where you're not allowed to use proportionate self defence. Unless the true story is slightly different.
Most people who have a life like he is describing, have more then swollen knuckles and a few scars under there luscious locks, you would at least expect a nose like a ironing board. Most kids plunged into a life like that put up emotional barriers which never really go away. When telling there story's are more likely to be emotionless, and probably won't get tearery eyed when people give them money or one of there fish dies.
I don't know what the truth is, perhaps he is telling the truth and he is the exception, perhaps he should just stick to fish keeping.

I have a strange feeling that there is some truth to it but it's heavily embellished.
I dont know much about how canadas laws work, but couldnt he be arrested? He basically admitted to doing something to the witnesses so unless hes lying and the authorites know for a fact hes lying he can still be arrested or at least investigated?ive heard of murders that have suspects arrested years after the incident. So if its true it it a bit of a risk to post on youtube?
I don’t understand all the hate on a guy who is just sharing how this hobby gave him something to live for and helped him get back on his feet. That was basically the central message of his video. The negativity is palpable.
As to the actual details of his story, no one knows for sure what happened except God and the parties involved. How are any of you so clear about what’s right or wrong about the details? It’s all just gossip.
I’m no fanboy but the guy did a lot for this hobby whether anyone likes his attitude or believes the videos display his “sincere” self or not. Who cares? Who here doesn’t have negative qualities about ourselves? Besides, there has to be some showmanship if you’re gonna survive in his line of work.
All the fish forums and clubs are dying off and only loosely held together by some hardcore enthusiasts or old timers still hanging on. It’s good that he’s been able to excite some new fish keepers. It’s good to see someone succeed and do better for themselves. What’s to hate on that about?

You are like one of the fan boys. This is all about his recent video. Thats what the thread says. Joey made the decision to put his past on review (poor decision). Not the other things he has or hasnt done. Personally what has he really done for the hobby? Show you how to make stuff other people already have made ok he showed us that. Show you how to make suff that doesnt work full as designed, yup. He is arrogant. If you think hes doing any of this for you, you are wrong its all for him. Thats my opinion.
Now as the fan boys keep trying to derail this thread it's about his latest video about his previous life that are on discussion here. Not what he has or hasnt done for us but what he said he did then. And what he said he did is inexcusable. He said he did something to the witnesses to stop them from testifying. On top of all the other stuff. That is the last straw for me. Not because he did it but because of the way he said it and that he said it at all. It proves hes no different now the he was then if its true. If its not true hes even worse in my eyes as a liar. If its lies then hes trying to make people feel sorry for him to gain more views thats dispicable. People actually have lives like that and for him to lie about his life and use that is so wrong.
I watched all his stuff even though I didnt like him all that much. I'd watch it on my lunch just to see what hed do next. I wasnt always a fan but found his channel about 5 years ago and thought cool someone showing you how to do all this cool stuff. Ive tried and seen people try some of his stuff some works some doesnt. One particular item wasnt working for me so I was one of many that asked him how or what I was doing differently to make it not work. His answer was to stop being a cheepass and pay some money for his book if I was too dumb to do it from a video. Does that sound like an answer from someone thats doing something for the hobby? No! He is a db. But you fan boys want to take the thread here so here we are. Spin it for him guys thats what you are good at spinning the bs to make him seem like the savior of a hobby. Quit selling yourselves short and keep posting on forums like this. It us that keep this hobby going not someone who capitalizes off people like us like he does. Hes a dirty dirty db either way the story goes. Either he isnt truly sorry despite all the crocodile tears or hes a liar. If its the later he needs to go to jail and rot for a bit maybe then he'll be sorry for real.
I’m not a fanboy or a hater. I enjoy his videos yet realize he is not completely genuine. That being said, if anyone thinks that story was true or he actually intimidated witnesses I have some magic beans I’d like to sell you
In Canada you can't be arrested for being full of yourself. Even if Joey did threaten the other parties involved, this is now all ancient history, and if the story is even loosely true, those parties had more to lose than Joey from coming forward. Then or now. If someone here thinks that he killed them, I have a nice beachfront property you might be interested in as well. lol
