Probably hundreds of pages on google when you search for how to make money on youtube. A few examples ………

  1. Become a YouTube Partner and make money from ads.
  2. Make money on YouTube by selling products or merchandise.
  3. Crowdfund your next creative project.
  4. Let your audience support your work through "fan funding".
  5. License your content to the media.
  6. Work with brands as an influencer or affiliate.

I've heard before that people make money off viewers/followers on youtube, but how? Is youtube paying them? And if so, how does someone following or watching a video on youtube give youtube any financial gain? That's something I have never understood.

The thing I watched (i'd link it but I don't know how to) showed that joey makes $3 or something like that for every so many views on any of the stuff he puts on. Take into consideration he has literally millions of views on many of his diy and fishroom broadcasts then you can quickly understand how that figure can spiral (to give you an idea I think his 4 most popular broadcasts involve in the region of 2-3 million views each! That's just his top 4!!!! He literally has hundreds and hundreds of high volume viewed broadcasts. The guy also took into consideration sales from his king of diy t-shirt. Even after you factor in what fee joey has to pay to you tube (something along the lines of 45% if I remember correctly) the figures you get at the end are quite mind boggling. I'm not surprised he's posting more and more content, it's a right cash cow for him.

I've just watched that video again on you tube. All I typed in was "how much does king of diy make from you tube" and it came up. It's by a guy called Robert nguyen. He seems to go through it quite thoroughly, knows what he's talking about etc. I've no reason to think he's bullshitting. Give it a watch and make your own minds up.

I guess maybe I AM getting old then lol because I find that just crazy. If these bozos are making money off youtube just for doing that sort of stuff then thats just wrong IMO, because there's no way to validate the info they are giving, or to have any sort of standards to hold these people making videos up to. Basically any moron with a $50 vid cam can do it and act like a fool to try to make money then is what it sounds like.

Sometimes I long for the days when people had respect for themselves and didn't get into all the garbage they do these days.

To give you an idea of how crazy it is the richest you tuber of 2018 is a guy called Daniel Middleton. He made $16.5 million and has 19 million subscribers. I don't even know what he does, I just looked at the earnings potential. "King of con" has probably just over a million subscribers now, and rising rapidly. He must be laughing his head off. It's onwards and upwards for him.

Bingo, which is why I have spent very little time over the years watching youtuber's giving aquatic info. I have read things that are so far out in left field (and totally false) that they are laughable, yet I see people leaving comments thanking the person for their wisdom. lol Unfortunately you are 100% correct, anyone with a vid camera can upload content, and act like an expert, even if they have been in the hobby for a few minutes, or not at all.

This is the one thing that I have always liked about MFK, especially when it was more active here in the past, the serious members that had many years in the hobby called out the overnight experts, and fools. Of course the people that are nothing more than legends in their own minds don't want to post on public forums because they know they will be opening themselves up to scrutiny from the public.

But hey, if someone can make millions selling BS to fools, more power to them. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head making them follow a fool, and that very approach seems to have worked well for Donald.

Have you watched the "Discovery channel" or the "History channel" in the last 20 years? Or "The Learning Channel" in the last 40? YouTube has changed countless people's lives for the better. People who formerly had bleak futures now have successful, happy lives that they could have only dreamed of before and serve to inspire people in similar situations to them all around the world. One of those people was Joey. "The King of DIY" title is search engine gold. If he wanted to be mega rich he could have done home improvement videos or something and be showing us his private 200,000 gallon aquarium instead of a self made 2000.

Beyond that I have never seen a YouTuber make a video about their midget neighbor hoarding their garden gnomes in a sex dungeon or someone finding cow sh*t in their backyard and putting a video of it on a "History" channel because it had a history of coming out of a cows ass. I have only seen that on "educational" television whose executives likely spend most of the year sailing around Fiji in their hybrid yacht/Bugattis.

No hard feelings toward anyone here but something I believe was important to say.

Dropping the mic
