Those are some absolutely amazing earth eaters you got there! I hope they breed like crazy. That must feel amazing that youll be the first to breed them in the states. Good luck man

Thanks man I hope so. I don't really care if I'm the first, just want them more available to the hobby. I'm sure there is a quiet breeder out there somewhere who has done it and I just haven't found it. Not worried TBH.

You got it Dustin, keep an eye on the marketplace. When I get them available I will post them there. Have too many people in line to keep it all straight haha :nilly:
thanks man/ i will try to remember. i am working on growing out some red tiger motas right now. cant wait for babys. how far out from fry are you thinkin?

Got to get myself some heavier sand, mine gets sucked up quicker than the debris. Too light, it's the quickrete all-purpose.

Well the largest male is constantly courting the smallest female (4" TL) and she is not accepting his advances. I am trying everything in the book to trigger them. Unfortunatly there is just no other info out there about spawning behavior. Even Thomas Weidners book (the bible for eartheaters) says "Because there is no reliable records of this species being maintained in the aquarium, nothing is known of it's breeding behavior" so even if I think I may be close it could be tomorrow or next year. No one really knows. I am documenting everything I try though for future attempts and other who try after me.

Once I get fry abvailable to the hobby, Satanoperca pappaterra is my next conquest

YEAH THEY ARE! It takes all but battery acid to get them to spawn (pH <5.5). They are spotted Satanoperca (daemon, lilith and acuticepts) and need very soft acidic water. I want to finish my work with the non-spotted species (leucosticta, jurupari, mapiritensis, pappaterra and the sp. 'redlip') before I dive into the spotted species. I have a chance right now to buy a group of Satanoperca acuticepts adults right now and it is soo hard to pass them up. Such rare beauties.. :(
