Udon, Soba, and the Noodles

magpie magpie I LOVE all of your plants. Please remind me what you dose once I week, I forgot. I've had a planted tank before and don't want to dose all of the things I did in the past but I could hand once a week dosing. My problem was that I didn't do CO2 but I did everything else high tech so there was an imbalance. With imbalance comes big problems. This go around I'm aiming for low tech. I'd like to have a large piece of driftwood with anubias tied on and val in the background. Do you use root tabs?

I do root tabs every 3-4 months and a shot of Flourish at each water change. Easy peasy.

I don't mess with CO2- I just use plants that work well and pull ones that don't. It's trial and error.

I want to trim the sword a bit more to show more of the DW.

I'll try that, thanks!

jwd jwd let's see if this works...

I think something like this could be effective with Vals, too. There are probably too many hiding spots behind the DW but it's cool how it's more built up on one side with plants.

Love the simplicity of this one. Uses DW and plants but still open space and still not toooo many hiding spots.

Similar likes here, though I actually think the cabomba or whatever on the right would look better just as more vals/anubias.

This one is a nice use of DW with open space and some plants, could be even cooler with anubias/vals. A way to use DW without a ton of hiding spots, though you'd have to be careful in the back right corner.

This one doesn't have plants but I just LOVE how it is almost a 360 degree view of the tank - so used to seeing tanks with a long end on a wall.

This tank is huge, but it has large polys and a use of DW with the plants up high. Interesting with more substrate space yet some cover to help the fish feel secure.

None of this may be your thing, but I thought I'd share anyway. I need to figure out how I can transition to a tank that I love aesthetically but can accommodate larger fish - cichlids and polys.

I love you Polyaddict, but even those Sens need more room to swim! LOL

(Actually, probably the Sens even more because they are active.). ;)
