awesome pick up on the Teug. I know its a poly forum but what are you feeding your butterflies? I hesitate to get some becaue it seems the lfss in the area cant get them to eat anything but crickets.I don't want crickets in the house again.

This one is about the same size as Macaroni was when I put her in, so I decided to put it in the big tank instead of growing out in the shrimp tank. Had I gone with the small one I may have done the 10 gallon for a few months....

OH - and the person who helped me I didn't recognize so must be new. Or at the very least the person didn't know Polys. These were in a tank with baby Endlis - and they have the common name for the Endlis as "Red bichir". And maybe since I was going on about which one was the reddest, he mislabeled the bag. So I got the Teug for $23. DIdn't figure out what happened until I was in the car. I thought - wait, I just paid $20something for this fish... were they having a sale? (Some of the fish in the store were sale fish) Looked on their FB page to check for sales but nope. Then I figured it out - bag labeled Red Poly.

Kinda feel bad. Kinda stoked. ;)

Zilch Zilch - maybe this counts as my "store credit" for all of the MFK sales of their PBBs. LOL

Anything new or different than their list?

Congrats. It's not a skinny linny like most small in store Teugs. As for tail, 1 week good as new. You'll notice the healing will start within 48 hrs.

They came to me from the LFS (Wet Spot) eating anything, so they've actually been really easy - the hardest part is finding things that actually float because they won't go off the surface at all to grab food if it starts to sink. (My hatchets used to go down a few inches to eat esp. if live food but not these guys.)

Their main staple is floating Cichlid Excel. They'll even eat flakes and other micro pellets/wafers that I feed the congos if they stick to the surface.

They'll eat out of tongs - I do this for live earthworms, or frozen krill or bloodworms that I feed the polys.

I've never fed crickets.

No, nothing new or not listed poly-wise. That pooooor looooonely Koloton is still there though, still at the front of the tank saying hi to me.

Thanks for the input on the tail. I'm not sure how much they keep their baby coloration but I'm happy with the deep colors on this one.

New addition!

I was convinced to get one now - it should be able to grow out in this tank for a year or so I've been told, and since they may not come around for another year, it makes sense to have a larger one to add to the big tank when I get it.

There were 3 in the store. Two were the most striking red/yellow - biggest and smallest. So I chose biggest (about 4") even though the tail is not perfect. I'm hoping that will heal and is not a defect.

Either way, please welcome Ziti to Noodletown.

It would have been guessed in the first post I think. I was talking about it in the PBB thread.

Sorry, did I ruin your fun? ;)

I can start one and you guys can all act wicked surprised at the reveal....

Awesome! Looking forward to Ziti's noodley adventures :)

I agree, that tail will fill in very quickly. My little teug has great recuperative powers and is growing like a weed.
