The tank setup comes with a filter, so I'll start with 2 running on it, but the one it comes with has been dry so there's no BB.

I am getting the 20 today.

Do you think putting the filter from the 10 gallon on it is enough to start the 20 with the same stock or should I pull a filter pad from the Eheim to help with the larger size tank?

Easy peasy you should be fine old filter will handle the bioload just fine while the new filters cycle. Just feed a little on the lighter side as the old tank, substrate, and decor will all hold bb that also act as part of the overall bio filter.

I have purchased so many used tanks in my day, mostly salt. White vinegar takes off all the crud, including the hard to clean off coralline algae. Its a great tool, and no worries about it effecting your fish after if you don't rinse it enough it will only lower the ph a little.

The heater and filter are both Eheim so I won't need to replace them which is nice.

Ok, thinking for transition:

- take out 3/4 of the water and put in styrofoam cooler.
- remove plants and decor
- Move fish to cooler.
- move 10 gallon and stand out of the way
- move 20 gallon in its place
- Fill 20 gallon halfway- ish with warm dechlor tap water
- run old and new heater on 20, until sure if new heater is calibrated right.
- run new and old filter
- put 10 gallon's sand, plants, and decor in 20
- put fish in 20, with the water they've been in

Anything I should change or anything I'm missing?

I'm not sure id use the old sand. Id get new if it was me. rest sounds good.
As for that wonderful piece of art id put it right in the super special cylindrical file cabinet. Id do it like a mic drop after I was done with moving all the other stuff!
