Udon, Soba, and the Noodles

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well that was kinda stressful but everyone's ok and seems fine now. Happy that the puffer has more room now. Will pick up some cories (have never really had them before) and either more mocrorasboras or more small schoolers.

Will need to tweak things plant-wise, maybe add some rocks, but here's how it looks right now. New wood (the light branch.)

Puffer is in bottom right third for size reference. Much better.
Need a longer light and the thermometer won't live there. Just being sure that I don't cook the tank with the new heater.

WOW absolutely breathtaking! That tank looks like a million bucks. Do you aquascape on commission? You can do my tank lol.
We need a show where magpie magpie goes to people's houses and transforms their tanks into plant paradises.

That puffer is going to be the happiest Meatball ever!

You should see how decent lighting and photography changes a tank ;)

Planted is the way to go :)

Thanks clm08k clm08k ! You're very sweet. I enjoy tanks that I like to look at but I also feel help stimulate and calm the fish.
I over fed the Meatball a little with ramshorn snails, in combo maybe with more MTS stirred up with the move. He is verrrry round and full right now.

I wish I had a better low light lens for my SLR. It takes great pics but struggles with fish - the weird lighting and movement combined. My cell pics just have to do for now.

Back to the original topic - I have some short videos of the poly tank.

Feeding time. (Excuse the plant debris that they've stirred up in their excitement.)

General tank vid. Please note Polli video bombs x 2 when I'm trying to focus on the Moke. What an attention whore.
LOOK AT MEEEEEEEEEEEE not that ugly Moke!

And just some swimming polys. Polli Macaroni is catching up to Moke Soba, my slowest grower. Not sure if that's a species thing or also a combo of female vs. male thing. Plus, Macaroni is a huge pig. Supposedly males don't grow as large - I wonder if they tend to grow more slowly?

Side note - puffer fish tail chomps heal more quickly than other bichir-induced tail chomps. Both Polli and Teug tails are nearly back to normal already.

I'm guessing it's like if you cut yourself with a sharp knife vs a chainsaw. ;)

Thanks!

I actually don't want to do that because of my butterflyfish. I need to be sure they get their share! They are such surface eaters - even if the food goes a half inch below they'll usually ignore it. They'll eat out of tongs but it's a slow process. They stab/grab and run away... then gradually come back. I have to have time and be feeling patient to tong feed the butterflies.

The Ropes will eat out of my fingers near the surface though, and occasionally the Polli. I bet the Teug would too if I tried. I'd have to try before I dropped food to the bottom though. Once he starts eating down there he doesn't stop until there's no more. ;)
